This is a very nice looking place which has understandably been the local pub of the year on more than one occasion.
A very social place too. I met the brewer and got a very good description of their beers from the bartender. Stayed for a couple of different beers from their brewery, Pied Eyed. Very very nice. Only brewery in the centre of Chester!

5 stars from me. As an ale drinker I can honestly say this is easily the best pub for real ale in Chester. The cask is kept to absolute perfection and the choice is ever changing! always something new to try!

I loved this place!
Had a meal here and the food was fantastic, the decor was brilliant and the staff were lovely.
Loved the specials board, and really struggled to actual decide on just the 1 dish!
Would certainly go back to stay in a room, but whenever we’ve been in chester they’ve been fully booked. The pub is based in the walls.
The beer selection was very good, and would certainly satiate even the most discerning beer pallate

This is a very traditional pub in the hreat of Chester.Good food served here all the while and good selection of beers too.I have had a number of meals here over the years and Ive never had a bad one yet.Very impresive from the outside and once through the door a clean well laid out pub.The warm atmoshpere that greet s you is reflected by the staff who greet and serve you.A good choice on the menu and a felling of having had value for money as you leave. Will be back again as I think it s worth it as always.

Very convenient location in town centre close to the Cathedral, Walls, Town Hall and Rows. Situated in a very interesting historic building, which is also a pub with some decent beers. Staff were helpful.
Breakfast was good. However, the window for breakfast on Sunday was fairly short (8-9am) and early. Staff, although helpful, had to struggle to serve everybody. It would have made more sense to extend the window by half-an-hour. There is no car parking, which may be an issue for some, although you can drive to the front of the hotel and drop bags etc. with one of the party.
