Kew gardens at any time of the year are a good place to visit, away from the hussle and bussle of London, they are a place of peace and quiet. Even in wet weather the greenhouses and pavillions are a good place to visit. The fountains and lake are beautiful and there are miles of well signposted walks. After all this activity a good tea room is provided and a gift shop for tasteful souveniers of a good day out. The ducks provide amusement for the children and the tropical hothouses a taste of more exotic places.

Buy a season ticket and walk their at least once a week - watch nature change. A bit pricey for a one off visit but definitely worth it.

Kew Gardens is truely magical. It can feel pretty pricey to get in - it’s £13 for adults. Kids under 17 are free (when with adults). When you get in you really see where your money is going. We’ve visited gardens in a number of countries and this is (in my mind) the most well cared for and interesting of them all. You can spend all day here, it’s massive and there is so much to do and see - infact the chances are the kids, or you will get tired before you’ve seen everything. When everyones worn themselves out there are some great picnic spots (weather pending of course - this is England!!) The greenhouses have some amazing plants and flowers and the children really learn about what grows in different environments. They have events all year round so it feels like there is something different everytime you visit - obviously aided by the wonderful change in seasons experienced in this part of the world. This is without doubt one of my favourite places to spend the day - even when it’s raining! It doesn’t matter how many times I go, I just never get bored. The only downside with Kew…...I wish I lived closer!!

Wow, I can’t believe that I have not visited before.
We parked outside the Victoria gate which is free to park on the road after 10am. The whole place is amazing but the real highlights for me was the Princess of Wales conservatree with the most amzing structural plants. We walked for 6 and half hours around the gardens and still didn’t see everything. A real must is botanical art gallery as this was the last place wwe visited and thought we would have a quick look around as I prefer the gardens but it was a real surprise to see so many stunning works of art. I would highly reconmend a day out.

A world class garden, great for the plants and a walk. It’s a shame entry prices keep going up, pricey for a family. But if you can’t afford to go regularly at least go once.
Plenty of good catering.

Yes, apart from the rather hefty entrance fee, Kew Gardens is one of the top outdoor places to go in London, especially in Spring/Summer. I recommend going inside the Evolution House which takes you on a simulated journey through prehistoric time until now with all the trees, plants and geology that goes with it. Accross the path is the Temperate House, which is a 2 story Victorian original building that houses plants divided into the different continents of the world. In there you can stand next to a small gum tree from Australia and then walk over to a decent sized rubber plant from South America. Magical!

As wells as having an amzing variety and diversity of plants in winter kew gardens is also home to an outdoor ice rink, which is just great. Admission to Kew Gardens seems to be quite pricey at over £10 a head but i suppose it must take a lot of money to keep alive the conservation projects, research teams and also the Gardens in Kew themselves. Overall it is an enjoyable outing, and suprisingly kids always seem to love it (as well as the adults of course)!!

Simply the nicest botanical garden on the planet. I always checkout the gardens wherever travel to and these are the best ( ones in Copenhagen/Sydney are top shelf as well ). Plants are kept in excellent condition - looking forward to the spring !!!

I cannot express how much I adore Kew Gardens. If the star-rating system went up to ten, Kew would be worth fifty. Go there. I cannot strongly enough urge you to go to Kew. Get on a District Line train to Richmond, get off at Kew Gardens station, and walk the short distance to the gate. If any part of you enjoys the sight of green and growing things you will not be disappointed.

The variety is breathtaking. Being really big, Kew has space for all sorts of random marvels - Henry Moore's sculptures, for example, exhibit there until March 2008. The huge green-houses hold glories aplenty, and that's before you even get a few hundred meters away from the gate; venture further in, go for a nice long wander, and you are guaranteed to find something to love. Wildlife as well as plants - at Kew you may fairly easily catch sight of the golden pheasant, alternatively called 'the pimp of the avian world', as well as less flashy critters such as rabbits and wood-peckers.

The entrance price is not negligable, though student discounts are given; and be warned that buying food at one of the cafes inside may well injure your wallet. However, I would unhesitatingly label any price as 'well worth it', whatever the season, as Kew is simply beautiful.

Even the train station at Kew is nice. No loiterers, grafitti, its almost an extension of the park itself. Upmarket boutiques, restaurants and shops nestle on the tree-lined streets on the way to the park. Once inside the park has many places to explore, and amazing plants. My recommendation is ice skating at the rink there during winter. The walk to the rink, with fairy lights in the trees, is magical.

Take a look at the reviews above. You would have thought that Kew Gardens couldn't get better...it's beautiful, it's majestic, it teaches you and makes you marvel and has a charming selection of eateries. The only slightly stressful thing is knowing that you can't see every-single-lovely-thing in just one day (you really can't by the way). What more could you want? Well now there's the "Moore at Kew" exhibition and you must see it. Twenty eight of Henry Moore's sculptures in the open-air...it is like being in a magical land where anything is possible. See it now in the crisp, autumn air then again before it closes in march so you can experience its glory in the spring too.

I love the plants and flowers in Kew. It is amazing how many different kinds of plants and flowers they have there. Kew Gardens is a big place and to see everything you will have to spend a whole day there. The best way to do it is by going on the Kew Explorer. There is a small fee to get in the Explorer but it is worth it. You get to hop on and off as many times as you want. There are many things to see there so you must take your time and not rush through. You will miss out on lots of things if you are rushing. Make a day out of it. You can have coffee and cakes at the cafe and then continue the journey admiring the wonderful flowers and plants there.

Kew Gardens really is a treasure. Whatever style of garden you’d like in your perfect home, you’ll probably find it represented somewhere here. From woods with towering cedars and giant sequoia (small specimens as yet…) to formal rose gardens. A Japanese garden. Woodland rides and woodland glades. Cultivated beds and wild spots with logs for the giant stag beetles. Then there’s the greenhouses: Victorian palms and water lilies to deserts with giant cacti, back to steamy, orchid-hung jungles. There’s stuff for kids: a massive play building, with sleepovers available. And big kids: I rather like the human sized badger den, and got thanked by another adult who only felt able to go in after I had! Those who can’t handle all the walking are catered for with lots of benches, a train and motorised chair hire. Nice places to eat as well. Highly recommended for all the family: you’ll never see it all in a day.

Just went to Kew Gardens to see the Henry Moore sculptures. The weather was perfect and it was impressive to see all the sculptures mixed with natures own autumn colours! We always have great days at Kew and visit regularly to see their different themed events (sculpture, orchids...)Prices, however, seem to go up everytime we visit, but I guess someone has to pay for maintaining this great place. Children under 17 go free, so families can happily come to spend a great day out.

I've been going to Kew for years and each time I see something new whether it is plants or art work. At the moment I think they have Henry Moore sculptures (summer 07).
We are so lucky to have such a place so near to the craziness of London.
I hope some of my pictures make it into their photo competition www.gpoty.org

Kew Gardens is great, and especially interesting for anyone who likes plants! It's nice to just wander round - there are loads of really nice flowers and trees, including some giant redwoods etc., and you'll probably come across a peacock every now and then. Inside the giant greenhouses (one of them is the oldest surviving greenhouse in the world) you can see plant and tree species from all kinds of climatic zone - tropical, alpine, temperate etc., including the world's biggest indoor tree! Very exciting. Kew is definitely worth a visit.

A great place to visit with kids. Lots of outdoor space & things to do. There's no ball games or bikes allowed in the Gardens, so don't bother bringing that sort of stuff with you. 'Creepy Crawlies' is an indoor activity centre for kids which comes in mighty handy when its cold/wet. Of course Kew is home to one of the largest horticultural & botanical collections in the world - so there's a massive amount to see both outdoors and indoors, particularly in the world famous victorian hot-house. I've been many times and have yet to tick off every corner of the grounds, which covers 300 acres (1.2 million square metres).

Unlike Stephan I don't notice the planes, as like most West Londoners I live on the Heathrow flightpath, so you get used to it after a while :-)

This is the most wonderful garden/park in the London area. Every season brings a new dimension to Kew, and although it is a lot nicer (for me anyway) to visit on a sunny day, you should not put off by sligthly more unpleasant weather.

You can spend your time scrolling round the park and various gardens, or spend time in the various greenhouses and exhibitions.

The restaurants and cafes in the park are pretty good too. But you can also bring your own and eat al fresco.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you have enough time to visit the Palm House; the glass building is a gorgeous example of Victorian architecture, and the trees and plants inside are amazing (some of those are now extinct in their original habitats).

Ah Kew Gardens. One of my favourite places in London. Great for Kids. Every spring I need to come here and either just relax in one of the remote corners of the gardens or admire the plants of the diffent climate zones of the earth.

A great day out.

There is one downside to Kew: It is not as quiet as one would like. Around 1200 Jets per day are arriving in parallel formation for two Heathrow rundways. Great place for plane spotters.
