Tavistock Square

A beautiful Square where Virginia Woolf lived
in a house on the south side of the square
bombed in the war & now a huge hotel. This
bust in my picture shows how she was commemorated
in the area. It also shows the organiser of the Virginia Woolf guided tour which I went on planned by the Virginia Woolf Society.

& the plaque to the victims of the July bombing

This lovely square is right next to my department from UCL. Whenever the weather is good, we're out there for a chat, some sunshine and lunch. There are a number of seats on benches available and when dry one can also sit in the grass.
 
For lunch, you can pick up food from one of the local stores or a lunch deal from nearby Waitrose, Tesco Express or Sainsbury's. There is also a Starbucks right opposite to grab a quick coffee.
 
So, come here, sit down with a book and enjoy the park in the middle of Bloomsbury.

This is a lovely square to relax in, and although it is surrounded on all sides by traffic, the tall trees and beautiful railings prevent the noise from becoming overpowering.
I ususally walk through here on my way to work and to the library and it really is a beautiful shortcut to take.
Tavistock Square looks especially attractive in the autumn.

Another interesting feature of this square are the various memorial trees, benches and statues, dedicated to locals and world leaders alike. There is also a discreet memorial to those who lost their lives in the 2005 London bomings (which happened close by).

Definately a great place for a stroll, there’s even a dog run to let your furry friends off the lead safely!
