Went in with my family to grab a quick bite before a show. Service was fine but they didn't go out of their way to help. After a mix up with the drinks we waited 40ish minutes for our food- which was cold and undercooked. What makes me give this such a bad rating was whilst we were waiting the table opposite us were served the wrong order, asked for it again and were again given the wrong order. They had been waiting as long as us. The table to the right complained about the waiting time and were then given food which had to be sent bad because it wasn't cooked and became annoyed.

I would give this zero stars if possible.  Went in for a quick snack, 50 minutes later the food arrived.  Cold chips, a 'king prawn' sandwich with 18 (yes, I counted them) tiny prawns, tasteless, stale bread.  Burger smelt weird and tasted odd, jacket potato awful.  £29. Absolute rip off, waitresses non uk and out of their league.  Cannot advise against this place enough.  Buy a sandwich in tescos for £2 and sit on the steps outside!

This was an absolutely awful place. I wanted to take my niece somewhere to eat and it had to be in Victoria before she needed to catch her coach. We ordered sausage and amsh for me and a veggie burger with what was supposed to be 'sea salt and balsamic vinegar' chips for my niece, which I had paid extra for. What arrived firstly were basic oven chips, so a waitress sent them back to the kitchen and 10 minutes later the meal came back with the same chips. We mentioned it again and she returned the plate once more with the same basic chips, saying that apparently they were correct. She pointed to a tiny pinch of salt on the rim of the plate and said 'that is what is the sea salt'!!! I replied 'Well should I have saved the extra money I paid and put on my own salt'? I didn't get any sense out of her. We let it go and my niece asked for some balsamic vinegar (as it was supposed to be sea salt and balsamic vinegar, but that didn't exist). This took 15 mins and by which time the chips were cold, so she asked if they could at least be warmed up. The waitress took the chips back to the kitchen to be warmed up and an hour later we were still waiting, despite asking a few times. By this time, my niece was almost late for her coach, and they were trying to keep us waiting even longer. I asked for the money back for her meal and to speak to the manager. I was shouted at by the waitress and told that there wasn't a manager. I suggested maybe a bar manager, kitchen manager, head waitress or even a supervisor, but apparebntly there was no one of the sort (find that hard to believe in quite a large pub). She shouted and slammed £2.50 on the table and shouted 'Well that should do. It's the price of chips!!'. I asked her not to shout and demanded to speak to someone. She ran off and got a business card, and then slammed that on my table without saying anything. ABSOUTELY AWFUL. DONT EAT HERE EVEN IF YOURE DESPERATE!!!!!!!

Pretty dire!! I hadn’t used this place in years, (until yesterday). What a clanger…abysmal!!
Used to be a geat place before catching your train home but not now.
Vastly overpriced and such a blaze’ attitude by staff is not conducive to filling your bars.
Go elsewhere…anywhere, but here!

To be honest there are not many places to go in the Victoria area so you are better off travelling 10 mins to the West End or Chelsea. The Shakespear is definitely not a place you would call your local! This is more of a "transient pit stop" The food and service is bad. Ambience wise is very clicky especially on a Friday or Saturday night if Pacha is open. Only drink here if you are that desperate!!

Went here on a staff night out and was absolutely disgusted with the treatment that one of my disabled colleagues received from a French Bar Manager who essentially told her (severely disabled though she was) to man up and stop whining that the disabled toilets were out of order and use the stairs like any normal person.
Expensive for what you get, microwaved food and very poor customer service!
A classic example of everything that could be bad within the British Publican's trade!!!
Avoid at all costs

Considering this pub is pretty dire, it's bloody expensive. But, being right by Victoria station it's always busy. It's not unlike a Wetherspoons. At all, actually. You'd be mistaken for thinking it was one. There's nothing exciting about it (the same can be said about the rest of Victoria) and the only reason you'd come here is if you were in the area and you wanted somewhere to meet without putting in any effort.

The beer was fine, but £3.70 for a pint in a shit pub is really not cool. The fact that they have BACARDI BREEZERS ON TAP should tell you all you need to know about this pub.

Well it was a bad idea when I suggested to my mates that we should go here.
£1.35 for one slice of stale bread. None of the staff had English as a first language. Toilets were in disrepair. Food was poor and orders were incorrect. Guinness was poured too quickly.
A terribly terrible pub. Go to the Wetherspoons in Victoria station instead. Avoid at all costs.

The Shakespeare Tavern is a bit run down, the beer is pricey and the service is slow. The downstairs bar is quite nice and intimate, and the location - right across the road from Victoria bus and train stations - is handy. But in an area full of bars, there’s not enough to make it stand out above the crowd.

Great location right by Victoria Train Station for a drink after work before heading home. Serves pub grub at normal prices but service can be slow. The downstairs bar is a little gem full of nooks and crannies. They have live music.
