Why oh why don’t they have this kind of moored ship on the banks of the Thames? After hopping aboard the good, vaguely camp ship Patricia…henceforth I’ll be greeting my friends Patricia like this: ‘ahoy there matey!’ The ship itself is an elegant creature, housing a restaurant (oh the lobster bisque soup, yum!) and a club, which was hosting a foam party when I visited, Speedos at the ready. Not only is this vessel aesthetically gorgeous, it also had a rather wonderful history, as follows:
Patricia was launched in 1938 from Smith´s Shipyard in Middlesbrough, England. For the better part of the next decade Patricia worked as a light – ship, setting and marking passageway throughout the English Channel.
Patricia played a major role for the Brits during the evacuation of Dunkurque. In 1944 Patricia was part of the first line of ships during the D-Day landing at Normady.
Winston Churchill spent time on the ship during the war and we have aptly named our first class 35 seat “private” room in his honor. We do take special party reservations in “The Churchill Room”, ask one of our staff if you would like to see “The Churchill Room”.
After the war, Patricia is rebuilt into a private luxury yacht for the English Royals. During 1952 Queen Elisabeth used Patricia as her own private yacht. She lived onboard and entertained the worlds elite during the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland.
In 1986 Patricia moors in Stockholm and opens as a maritime entertainment center. It was a success from day one. Newsweek magazine appoints Patricia as one of the foremost meeting places in the world.
Over the years, the top Swedish and international stars have visited and performed. Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, ZZ Top, along with Swedish stars Ace of Base and Marie Fredriksson (Roxette), have “Rocked the Boat”
It would be criminal to miss this, whatever your sexual preference ;-)
Been there only once, but have been dreaming of it and trying to fit it into my travel plans ever since. Having great time is always pretty much up to oneself - but this setting definitely gives one marvelous hand to it!

This is The place to be in Stockholm on a Sunday night if you enjoy the gay scene.
This wonderful ship turns in to a cosy, cool, fun and unusual styled night club. Patricia got 5 indoor bars and 2 outdoor + a restaurant (which has great offers on Sundays!).
Different type of music is played in different areas of the ship. In the summer the outdoor deck is amazing. You are in the centre of Stockholm, the midnight sun is shining, the music is loud, there is glitter and glamour all around you and the athmosphere is just great!
Been there plenty of times and I have always had an super time!
Apart from great DJ's they also often have live acts. It's normally a mix of Swedish and International stars. They've been doing their Sunday Club for over 18 years now, and in that time they sure have had some great acts.
If you want a great evening out, surrounded by nice, friendly, funny and hot guys, hear good music, dance, have great views and enjoy Gay Stockholm, do not miss out on this place!

Regarding the night club utilization of the boat:
- The space on board is well used: several dance-floors, several bars, an outside.bar with braziers because the beginning of the spring is still cold, a scene for musicians...
- It is not so expansive for Stockholm (150 Krona = 15 euros) entrance, 20 Krona dressing and beers can be bought for 50 Krona.
- I think it is more a club for tourist than a chic club for Swedes. Actually it must be 50%,50%, and the population is multicultural and multiage, the atmosphere is friendly and people enjoy dancing on appropriate and variate music.
In 6 words: a friendly place to go dancing!

It’s a fully operational boat (locals told me that it goes out once a year to prove sea-worthiness) docked 'permanently’ (except for that 1 day). It’s a floating restaurant/bar/nightclub all rolled into one. 2 tips: 1) Sunday night it’s half price night where most of the items on the menu (except some seafood & signature dishes) are half price. 2) Wednesday night is Lobster night where you can enjoy Lobsters for 129kr! Bargain in anyone’s standard.
