Freie Manufaktur - Tattoo und Piercing & Piercingstudio, Sternschanze, Hamburg

Spontaneously, I had both my nipples pierced and so far I am very happy with it. I didn't have to wait long, everything seemed clean, sterile and all in all very professional. I think they have a lot of experience in their job and know what they are doing. All the advices they gave me were also very meaningful and helpful. The price seems very fair.
So all in all, I can completely recommend the Freie Manufaktur if you want to get a piercing.
(I have no experience about their tattooing, but as I said the shop seems very professional.)

I can highly recommend Freie Manufaktur. The people are helpful, friendly and offer you sincere advice.

Update from 11 January 2011:

Went in for a tattoo touchup and a lip piercing. I had an appointment for the touchup and none for the piercing. Went in first for the piercing - was greeted with warmth from the piercer, who explained things in detail and answered my questions. Procedure was quick and no any more painful than it needed to be. A good, solid piercing experience.

Unfortunately, as with my original tattoo for which I was getting the touchup done, I needed to wait. I went in for the touchup nearly half an hour after my appointed time, which was on account of the tattoo artist becoming confused about my original appointment (analog scheduling, wouldn't trust it) and going out for a cigarette.

Another interesting tidbit: Apparently the following image was found in the studio's information folder: http://twitpic.com/3oukbu. This is an incorrect and outdated "map of the tongue", which echoes a common misconception about the way taste is detected on the tongue (more at http://bit.ly/bDiv4r).

Update from 2 September 2010:

Just got back from getting a tattoo done at Freie Manufaktur. I was really thrilled with how nice everyone was to me and was impressed by their suggestion to squeeze me in (they were booked solid through to the end of october) and their suggestion to allow them to customize my chosen design a little (I didn't follow their suggestion since I had designed my own tattoo, but it's nice that they offer this to customers who select designs from the flash books).

I arrived on time, but the tattoo artist didn't. As a matter of fact, we started 20 minutes after the agreed appointment, which put me under a bit of stress considering that I had taken a few hours off from work. I'm taking one star off for this, unfortunately.

The tattoo artist listened to my requests regarding placement and did the tattoo work nicely and professionally. The result isn't 100% accurate to the design (there are a few inaccuracies in lines and symmetry), but nothing I'd not expect in the scope of a normal margin of error.

Overall, I'm quite happy with my experience but not convinced my next tattoo will necessarily be done here.

Popped in here to buy a ring for my labret piercing. They have a large selection of body jewelry, which can initially seem intimidating - but the service is super-friendly, informative and nice.

I'll most probably come back here to check out some of their other stuff and who knows - maybe even get some work done in the future.
