1 review of Boars Head in English
The Boars Head in Bishop’s Stortford has a long and illustrious history, having been in place opposite St Michael’s church since at least the 15th century, and was then the brewery for the church ales.
The building is stunning, with the original black and white and Tudor beams, and really looks almost unchanged, despite 2 fires in recent history.
The pub was visited by Samuel Pepys, until he had a falling out with the landlady, and switched his allegiances elsewhere!
Nowadays, this handsome old pub serves good food, good ales, and offers good warmth and company, the staff are welcoming, and it’s a pleasant place to spend an evening.
