Hawk Conservancy Trust

A great day out. Refurbished with new entrance and restaurant make this a really good day out with a great opportunity to see birds up close. Different demonstrations throughout the day. Cafeteria food prices. £3.95 for fish and chips, so at least you can eat reasonably but obviously don't expect gourmet food.

Not much to add to the previous review other than to say that this was an excellent day out. The various displays were the highlights, with the staff clearly enjoying themselves and providing a good mix of facts and humour. The stars of course were the birds, many of which would swoop inches above the audience during the displays (or in the case of the vultures, so low you have to duck).

If you are looking for a fun day out with the family or a relaxing wander round in the great outdoors then the Hawk Conservancy is the place.

It is a friendly centre showcasing lots of different birds of prey from the tiny pygmy owls through to endangered vultures and beautiful Bald Eagles (there are even ferrets, ducks, chickens, sheep and deer on the park).

There are plenty of things to see on your visit and if you want a rest there are 3 different fantastic displays to watch (the 2pm Valley of the Eagles is a must see). You can hold an owl, fly a harris hawk and cheer on the ferrets in their very own race (all included in your entry fee). There is also a play area for the children and they can collect stamps dotted round the park (if the find all of them and take their completed card to the gift shop they’ll get a little prize).

Duffy’s restaurant serves up lovely hot and cold food throughout the day and the gift shop has some lovely momentos to remember your day.

The best thing about the Hawk Conservancy is the friendly welcome awaiting you and the genuine (and infectious) enthusiasm and love of the birds in their care. Rain or shine you’ll have a great day out.
