Only the BEST pasty you could find in England, Their small is everyone else's medium. Seriously you will not be disappointed in size or taste or price and anyone that says otherwise well clearly can't recognize a damn good Cornish pasty :D

Pastys at Horse and Jockey have really gone down hill recently. They used to be amazing but the last few we have had from there had pastry that was too thin and filling that was horribly mushy. Really disappointing.

Today I bought a steak pasty from the famous Horse and Jockey Pasties in Porthleven and it was appalling.
I am not fuss usually, but this time I want to leave a comment.

First hand, the pastry were breaking apart in the bag and leaving the boiling content between the damp cheap paper bag, my clammy fingers and my shoes. It was everywhere. It was like if the shop keeper gave me a used travel sickness bag.
But put my chin up, and try to eat the g*d damn thing. I miraculously manage to find 4 small bits of rustic meat,in between the melted pieces of paper bag and the overcooked soup content. Moment of joy. "Get on with it" I thought.
But once again, I just wanted to eat the pasty.
Some of it flow to the floor and one seagull lumped over it, and guess what? even the seagull were gagging at it.
That was IT, if the seagull can't bloody eat it,
there must be summit wrong.

Maybe I was unlucky,
maybe that what you guys are used to.

A.

I understand you guys

Horse and Jockey are quite simply...THE BEST. I've grown up in Helston and have tasted many a pasty from places like Warrens/Rowes/Ginsters (shudder) and nothing comes even close to the H&J pasty. Perfect pastry, delicious soft filling which is nicely peppery....and a decent size too! Seriously their medium is anyone else's large....their large is about a foot long - no jokes, and weighs about a kilo!

Horse and Jockey pasties are a must when visiting Helston. You can choose between shortcrust or flakey pastry, they are huge!! Horse and Jockey do not skimp on the fillings. A must have when in Town, a great treat for any visitor wanting to try a real cornish pasty.

The cheese pasties from Horse and Jockey are among the best in Cornwall.

If you get a big one, it’ll take you a week to eat it.

If you are in Cornwall and you are looking for the best traditional pasty that you can find, then this is the place for you.

Pastry is perfect, filling is traditional, no tinned peas to be found in these beauties!

A full range of bakery products is available but nothing comes close to the pasty.

I have known people to drive miles for one of these gorgeous pasties. If you are in the area it is absolutelty a must!

The Horse and Jockey is probably the finest bakery located in the market town of Helston. Located close to the centre of the town the Horse and Jockey provide very hearty and tasty pasties, pastries and sundries that are very reasonably priced. Synonymous within the town the Horse and Jockey also cater for filled rolls and baguettes all hand made on the premises. They even offer a facility to cater for your needs during any private functions including parties and weddings. Overall, this is a traditional bakery that offers very inexpensive food ideal for a multitude of tasks; its reputation has been built on years and years of experience.
