Arundel House Hotel

I have been here a couple of times recently to visit the restaurant and have enjoyed it on both occasions.
There is a lovely little bar area which is comfortable and you can sit, relax and look over the menus first.
The menu itself may not be what you would find on some London fine dining menu - but that isnt what they are trying or pretending to be. There is fantastic choice with something for most tastes, and even more importantly, there is great quality in the food that they serve.
I thought the food was vey good value for money and will definately be back in the future.

My mother recently stayed here and it was definitely worth the £65 per night. She contacted them online and for a single room, which she got no problem. They put her on the only room on the top floor with view over Jesus Green which is one of the most beautiful parks in Cambridge and only a 10 minute walk to the city (through the nice park). The room was very warm and the breakfast plenty, we would recommend it to anyone!

This hotel is located almost directly on the banks of the river Cam and overlooking the beautiful Jesus Green, just a short walk or bus/taxi ride from the city centre and train station. It consists of a number of Victorian buildings that have been knocked into one as well as a separate outbuilding with further rooms out the back. There is a rather busy road running along the front but there is not much traffic noise at night. One major advantage for an establishment in central Cambridge is that it offers free car parking to its guests.
It has a lovely 'Old England’ atmosphere with plenty of flower-patterend wall paper, so if chintz is your thing then this is the place to go!
The hotel serves breakfast and lunches in a large conservatory to the back and also has a restaurant in the lower ground floor serving table d’hote and a la carte meals of traditional British cuisine.
My parents stayed there for a week in October 2005 and had a mixed experience: while the staff were polite and helpful without exception, they felt that both the rooms they were given - they had to move mid-week - could have been cleaner. Also, they really took issue with the fact that the entire hotel, but especially the conservatory breakfast room, was uncomfortably chilly. Overall, they felt that it did not represent good enough value for money and have stayed elsewhere on other visits.
