Review of Newhall Farm Inn from 11 February 2013
I go to the Newhall Farm Inn on a regular basis and have been generally satisfied with the food and service. There has only been one occasion when I thought that my meal could have been hotter.

I prefer the meals on the specials board to the menu and most of the time I choose from the specials board.

The food is well cooked and presented and I have to say much better than the Chetwynd Arms who offer a similar menu.

Downside is the dessert menu which is uninspiring and Marstons could do much better.

This pub is a regular haunt for me and my family. Staff are really attentive and friendly. Never had a bad meal and never have to wait for long except when it is really full. The food is hot, good atmosphere. I love it there.

Well what can i say??! same as other reviewers below.

I came here for a family birthday party yesterday, there were 27 of us. The pub itself and staff are great and make it look very welcoming, we thought we were in for a treat as the 2 4 1 offers sounded very good value for money. However when we ordered our food, we were informed that they hadn't got some of the items on the menu. Busy night and no stock!! An 1hour and 1/2 wait was rather excessive; we have been to other pubs/restraunts and only waited 20 minutes for our food! At last the meals have arrived WHAT?!? Is that all we are getting? Suddenly the 2for1 offer didn't seem such a good deal the portions were very small. My family had ordered various types of meals and they were all like 'children s portions'. The food itself was ok just could have done with some more, although one of our members said the gammon was very salty. I would rather not have 2 for 1 deal and pay for a larger portion.

Sometime later we ordered dessert but what a surprise some of the items were off the menu so our choice was limited... Another 30minutes and the desserts arrived.
They were OK i suppose nothing special really.

I wold NOT recommend this pub/restaurant unless your on a DIET then this is great

Food was ok once it arrived (waited 45 minutes). We sat in front of dirty dishes for 20 minutes while staff visibly chatted in front of us. We then had to go to the bar as the waitress didn't come to take our dessert order. At the end of the night there were 3 items on our bill we hadn't ordered.

Rubbish service, average food. Avoid.

Ahh yes, people just can't resist a bargain, or better still, something for nothing ! 2 for 1 ? ....... ' bogof ' ? ...... c'mon now, do you really think any eatery can afford to give away free food ? If something seems too good to be true it probably is. An old maxim but certainly a true one when you eat at Newhall, I gave 2 stars and that's based on the food, the staff were pleasant and friendly enough, there's nothing really wrong with the place or the meals it's just that you could eat better for less or certainly for the same money elsewhere, I was invited to a family get together here and my heart sank because I knew what I was in for, and I was right ! I tried cajun chicken with salad and chips, when it came I had to bite my tongue for the sake of my relative who was paying, because it looked like a childrens portion, I estimate 25 chips, chicken breast pan fried in spice, a small cup of peas and a small cup of salad, the salad contained various lettuces and nothing else, no dressing, no presentation, oven cooked chips were OK, peas ? ..... well, a pea is a pea, oh yes, i nearly forgot, a very small plastic catering style pot of chive sauce or something. Now don't forget, this enticing package should have cost just shy of £10.00 ..... but ........ of course, it's free isn't it ? Well that's what they'd like you to think, in actual fact it's cost you £6.00 because my partner had the steak at £11.95 which sounded good, seasoned and grilled and garnished with half a tomato, oh wow ! Half a tomato !!! Well, there wasn't enough steak to get a whole tomato on.

Now call me picky if you like but I know to at least three other places not far away where you're going to get fed and enjoy the meal for £6.00 or perhaps a little more, with a good choice of interesting food and plenty of it ..... no ' bogofs ' ...... pay your money and take your choice, personally, I'd rather pay £8.50 and enjoy my meal instead of paying £5.97 and leave feeling disappointed.

I couldn't honestly recommend Newhall farm to anybody, and although Burger King and Big Rons take a lot of stick I've had delicious meals there for £6.00 ( Double cheeseburger, chips and a mint choc swirl).

Our visit was Thursday evening and it was far from ' rammed ', so the chef wasn't exactly rushed off his feet, the other reviews are older so I guess people have wised up.

I agree with previous post - it is always rammed here, really difficult to get a seat and although the buy one get one free is good, the meals are nothing special and I was really ill after eaten there last year.

This place is always packed when I go in - that I have only eaten here once. They do 2-4-1 meals. Service and quality of food is good. But nothing exceptional
