Super for Sunday beers, good food and dog friendly

Very pleasant pub in Alnmouth with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We visited on a dark and wet November evening and were instantly cheered by the general chatter and friendly vibe. Genuinely friendly bar person and a great range of drinks on offer including several ciders that I’d never come across before – including one at 7.2%! Of the two pubs I visited in Alnmouth this was definitely my favourite and I’d certainly visit it again.

The Red Lion, in the centre of Alnmouth, is a great place to eat. They also have a dining room which is more 'restaurant’ than pub. Food is good if a little pricey for the area - they do local dishes like craster kippers and local vension, and usually have several seafood specials. Main courses average £11.00.

There is an open fire in the bar, and a lovely beer garden at the back of the pub overlooking the harbour - great place in summer to sit with a pint of real ale and a book.

Really nice local pub in the tiny village of Alnmouth, near Alnwick. Warm, friendly welcome, good beers, excellent food - and I mean excellent. The nearest thing this village has to a gastropub. You can eat in the bar, or in the dining room, either way the menu is the same. Good, fresh local food, veggie options, daily specials. Highly recommended.
