Review of The Works from 30 November 2008

Two words spring to mind when trying to describe “The Works” in Exeter’s Guildhall Shopping centre: cheap and cheerful. The products for sale range from imaginative handcrafted children’s musical instruments, to novels and biographies, through to arts materials (such as easels, paint brushes, oils, acrylics and pastels). They also stock cards and wrapping paper, as well as festive decorations. The prices in this shop are always very low, and sometimes they have sales which make it a must to visit. My favourite purchase so far has been a 5p cassette tape of Mike Reid singing such classics as “The Lady is a Tramp”.

A cheap range of books and art products for all. There are childrens books at reasonable prices as well as a nice range of cookery books. They have paints and art materials at cheaper prices.

Review of The Works from 26 November 2008

If you want cheap books then The Works is the place to go! It is located in the Guildhall shopping centre, and although it is small it is packed with bargains. They also do things like colouring books, pens, pencils, arts/crafts etc and other little stocking filler-type items. Always worth looking in there to spot the bargains!

Review of The Works from 26 November 2008

The Works has erratic sales on books and stationery bits, a lot of the time you have to sift through loads of things you’re not interested in, but occasionally there’s something really good value, so it is worth while, particularly for cut-price books coming up to Christmas time!
The staff in this branch have always been reasonably nice, and it’s generally been a good shopping experience.

Review of The Works from 19 November 2008

The Works sells books, but lots else besides, and everything is at very discounted prices. This makes it a good place for stocking fillers, especially for children. You won’t find the latest releases here usually, but you could pick up a bargain. The stock varies enormously so it is well worth checking out if you’re on the way past. The Works can be particularly good for basic art supplies (canvases especially) and for kids craft bits and pieces.
