Headmasters

My first experience of Headmasters Wandsworth was a real disappointment. When I made the appointment, I was asked which level of stylist I would like, and I asked for 'stylist' (the cheapest at £41). However, when I came to pay, the hairdresser (Chloe) tried to charge me £57, which is the price for 'master hair designer' - not sure how this could have been misunderstood on the phone! She also tried to charge me £15 for a treatment (basically consisting of spraying something on my hair, massaging my head and putting a hot towel round my head for a few minutes) she had offered me without ever mentioning that there would be an extra charge, let alone £15!!! I stuck to my guns, and after she admitted she hadn't told me how much it would cost, paid only £41. The haircut itself was OK in that she hadn't done anything terrible, but I was disappointed that my hair looked very similar to before I went in the salon - she had taken the amount I requested off the ends, but the layers look the same length as before. I doubt anyone would notice I've had my hair cut and I will have to get it cut again soon. Other dodgy moments were the hairwashing, when the stylist managed to get water down my forehead and into my eye... Also, I was told there would be an initial consultation, as it was my first appointment, but this essentially was the same as with any haircut, i.e. 'What would you like done with your hair?', and lasted approximately 2 minutes. I was expecting something fairly upmarket and high quality from Headmasters, as this is how they portray themselves on their website, but I have experienced much better quality at cheaper salons.

Customer service is really good!! BUT why is that must of the hairdresser here in London don’t understand what is to cut just the ends?? the girl who cut my hair, cut too much more that what we have discussed! now i look like a mushroom.

Before I discovered Headmasters, I'd never been back to a hairdresser more than once. However, at Headmasters on Wimbledon Broadway, I've sipped complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate, nearly dozed off having my hair expertly washed and come away feeling amazing five times to date! I've also recommended two friends (who both trekked over from Ealing) and my OH - and yes, it does help that the recommended and the recommender both get half price cuts out of doing so! On the matter of price, it's not cheap, but I've seen worse. My only minor gripe is that stylists seem to get promoted pretty quickly, which of course is great for them but can get quite tough on the wallet once you've got used to a particular stylist.

'Me Mondays' this should be the new name for Monday in my opinion! Headmasters have a great deal for women- cut, full head of foils, treatment, head massage and wash, dry and style.
The stylists are friendly and know their stuff- they ask questions that make you comfortable they know what to do. I have a pretty fussy attitude to hair cuts of any kind, and rattled off my criteria to the stylist. 1 1/2 hours later (I have a lot of hair) he rattled my rules back to me verbatim, before he even took the scissors to hand. Impressed!

I went here very recently on a Saturday and it was packed unsurprisingly. The service was very good though, as was the coffee and my stylist managed to tame my unruly curls into a wonderfully sleek managable style which I loved. Apparently thay’ve got a colour discount on at the moment so I’m very tempted to go and utilise that…
I tend to 'shop around’ a lot when it comes to hairdressers and rarely remain loyal to any, but this one may have changed that. Prices are very reasonable too…

After a long break, I returned to this place for a cut and it had lost none of its charm. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel relaxed and welcome, drinks were offered freely and the entire visit was more pleasant then I ever expected.

Prices were a tad high, but the stylist knew her business and I would have paid double for the result I ended up with. Great service all round.
