To be blunt – Food is average being a branded pub. Importantly the service was really bad, infact one of the worst experiences we’ve had. I’d write a full review but to be honest the establishment is lucky i’m not.

Unfortunately the food isnt great and alot of it is microwaved ahead os serving to you. I used to work for the company and know that alot of the food is bought incredibly cheap and the mark up is huge to customers. Cheap steaks and to be honest the service overall wasn’t great. Glum faces and in future I would only use the pub for a drink every now and again as there is alot better food in and around the area of the bamford arms. This isn’t a rant as I review all restuarant/pubs I visit and am completely honest in my opinions.
Please be aware that alot of the generic reviews are often employees and friends that will add info to lift the average rating of an establishment. they will put 5 out of 5 of course!

My husband, myself and my son booked a table for between 7.00 and 7.30. We arrived at 7.20 we were shown to our table and ordered drinks. 50 minutes later our drinks still had not come so we had to go looking for someone to ask. He apologised saying that the till had just broken and lost our drink order and he took it again. We understood, but no one had even taken our food order yet. The drinks came and a waitress finally took our food order, explaining she hadn’t been over before because she had been running back and forth to another podium as one computer had been down all night, We thought this was strange because every time we had looked over she was stood at her podium with another waitress. She apologised for the long wait and said that as we had waited so long she would speak to the chef to make sure our food order came quickly. We appreciated that as it was around 8’Oclock now and we were all hungry.
By 9 O’clock there was still no sign of our food so we had to leave and get a Chinese take away instead. Our whole evening was ruined, if they had been honest from the start about the waiting time, we could have at least gone somewhere else for a meal before it got too late. We understand that things go wrong, but too many things went wrong. The drinks didn’t arrive for 50 mins, no one took our food order for 50 mins, and then the food never arrived. We couldn’t even pass the time using the WIFI they advertised in an Email to me, it was locked. We saw another man, who was already seated when we arrived, get up and leave, he looked very disgruntled, and the elderly ladies who were seated just before us also had no food by the time we left. We have been to the Bamford before with our friends and family and have always loved the food. Up until now it would have always been a first choice for any occasion, but we have no plans to go back again.

The Bamford has recently been refurbished so everything is nice and new and quite nicely done.
On the food front it is the standard Beefeater menu, nice enough but nothing special. At the bar there is a range of premium lagers (Becks Vier, Stella, Carling extra cold), a couple of beers (Pedigree and Cumberland when I was last in - not sure if these change) and there are also a fair number of different wines available a decent prices (both by the glass and bottle). Where it falls short (aside from real ale) is on spirits as there is generally only one brand available for each of the more popular drinks and if your tastes run to anything more exotic than vodka/whisky/rum/gin then you may struggle.
Where the Bamford really picks up points is on the service, the staff are really good and it is a comfortable place to while away some time.

The Bamford Arms and Travel Lodge in Stockport is located on the main A6 on the corner of Nangreave Road in Heaviley. They have a fairly priced bar where you can go just for a few drinks, and also a restaurant upstairs. They serve some great food like steaks and burgers all at good prices. They also have a set menu of either 2 or 3 courses for a fixed price. The service is brilliant and the staff are very friendly.

The Bamford Arms is on the A6 in Stockport. It is a pub and restaurant with a travel lodge next to it. As you walk through the doors you find the bar to your left. It is a pub type bar, where a few locals obviously drink all the time. It is well decorated and looked after and the bar staff are friendly. The drinks are fairly priced too.
The restaurant is up the stairs as you walk in. There are a range of different sized tables and plenty of tables too.
The staff are very friendly and the food is great. I have never had a problem with the food or the service in here. They do a good range of different starters, main courses and desserts and also have a 2 and 3 courses for a set price menu.
The service is also very good in here.
