Well, what can you say about Morrisons. Let’s face it, it’s not one of the better supermarkets, is it? Unfortunately, it’s the closest one to me and within walking distance, so I do pay it the occasional visit, reluctantly, to stock up on the things I can’t get at my local smaller shops.
The highlight this year was the Organic Food Week in September, when they finally stocked a good selection of organic food at surprisingly good prices. It made it worth the walk. Unfortunately, it was short-lived and they soon went back to their normal standard of product.
The low point has to be the service, which is appalling. None of them seem to know where anything is if you ask them, and they seem quite cross if you ask for help! They really need some training, but sadly I think there is a reason they are working here and I try to find some compassion in my heart (easier said than done when they are being rude and unhelpful!). I’d definitely give them the gong for worst customer service in London!
I go here because it’s close and it’s cheap. Anything I can buy at a sole trader on the high st, I can get here for between half and two thirds of the price.
It’s not just the price though. This is not like an Iceland or Aldi where everything is prepacked. The morrisons has a great little deli and bakery and it has a very good range of fresh fruit and vedge.
I must admit though that by far my favourite thing about this place is the price of the beer. The government has been whinging about how cheap these places sell booze - blame them for our alcoholic culture - and maybe that’s a little right. But I just love it! You can get a four pack of Morrisons home label beer for 92p. That’s less than 50p a litre. That’s half the price of petrol! Not that I’d drink that myself, but I like to know it’s available if I ever go broke.
gotiges7 My god you really do read everything! I noted that ambiguity. The answer would be neither at this stage..
