Hollywood Bowl

This is my local bowling alley and the one I have frequented most. I should stress that this is mainly because of convenience rather than because it provides a quality bowling experience.

The bowling lanes themselves aren’t too bad, although they could do with sprucing up a bit, and it’s very busy which creates a good atmosphere. The main problem is the kind of people the place attracts. In the foyer there is quite a large games arcade, complete with video games, pushers and air hockey. Fun if you get there early, but many people turn up purely for the arcade and not the bowling. These are usually young school or college goers and it’s not uncommon to see trouble flare up.

If I had kids, this isn’t somewhere that I’d take them on a family afternoon out. Shame, because as a bowling establishment it’s not that bad.
