I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a knitting shop right on my very own doorstep. I’ve been knitting (and purling) since I was a child and after a few years off for teenage shenanigans got right back in to it again when I found trendier and more flattering patterns for modern ladies like myself via marvellous sites like Knitty.com.
So you can imagine my delight upon discovering a cosy den of materials round the corner just itching to be made in to things by my busy little fingers. For the less experienced or the plain rusty there are classes (details are posted in the window) - owner Susan Sharp is also instrumental in the local Stitch 'n’ Bitch meetup every Wednesday at The Florence - and for all there is a plethora of wooly loveliness to be purchased. I popped in with Benji the Schnauzer one day and even he was welcome…until he started nibbling on a ball of Rowan Chunky.
I’ll go on my own next time.
