This has to be my favourite place to go when I need a break from the hustle and the bustle of daily life!
I first went here last year on a lovely hot autumn afternoon and spent my time taking photos and exploring the paths and walkways - It's a nice place to go to disconnect for a while.
Parking is free and the gates open at 8am and close at 5pm every day
Just a short drive out of Cambridge, with a good (and free !) car park but no toilets or any other facilities, Gog Magog is the closest that Cambridge gets to being hilly - it’s basically Cambridge’s one hill, but the views over the city from the top are quite spectacular.
A great place to take children for a Sunday afternoon walk, and if they are really energetic, you can wander over to Wandlebury and take them round there too.

It’s a great place for dog walking, as it has a fenced-in walk all the way around the perimeter. There are lots of blackberries to pick in summer and it’s good for wild mushrooms too.
The down itself is good for exercise, kiting and id by far the best place for miles around for tobogoning when there’s snow…but be warned, it can be extremely fast and you might crash into the hedge at the bottom.
There’s a separate exercise field for dogs near the car park. Note, there are no facilities like toilets etc.

Free car parking, and space to wander around freely the hills are a nice place to go for a sunday afternoon wander. However I would recommend keeping to the trodden paths to help you avoid the abundance of dogs muck. If you go all the way to the top then you can walk alongside a field full of sheep. There isa small band of trees which provide welcome shade in the sun, and some shelter from the wind. It is quite blustery up there when its a windy day. You can carry on up to the road, and over into wandlebury if you go far enough. A good place for kite flying.
