Popped in for a large Mocha coffee £2.50. It was quite busy at the time but found a stool to sit on and watch the world go by outside on Eastgate Street. The coffee was excellent served with a large cream topping with chocolate pieces on, the only down side was I had to wait about ten minutes to place the order in the queue, mind you it was 12 noon, the busiest time for them.
Cafe Nero is of course part of a nationwide chain serving up a very similar coffee shop experience to Starbucks, Costa, etc. I have to say though of all the big chains, Cafe Nero is my personal favourite. The coffees just taste that little bit better - and I prefer the way the service is done over Starbucks - where I can’t help but feel I’m on some sort of 'customer conveyor belt’.
This particular Cafe Nero is very narrow but goes back quite a long way. This means there is a fair amount of seating, though it could do with a few more sofas and comfy seating areas.
My only other complaint with Cafe Nero is that they do not accept any kind of credit or debit cards. For someone like me who regularly forgets to take cash out, this can be a problem - and the other big chains don’t seem to have this issue.
Overall this is probably one of the bettter places for coffee in Chester city centre and is well recommended.
