People have different opinions on pound stores: some think they’re eyesores, some think they’re economical outlets that keep pressure on other retailers.
This one, on the main street through Ealing, is always bustling. And it’s packed, from floor to roof, with tons of stuff. Most of it is, of course, crap, because everything costs only a pound. But there’s plenty of times when you just need a little widget, doo-dad or item and it doesn’t need to be top quality. Batteries, hand lotion, packs of slimline CD/DVD cases, mugs, twine, ashtrays, every type of plastic container, underwear, umbrellas, rubber mallets, stuff for pets, bags of nuts: it’s incredible what you can find here.
You wouldn’t want the high street to be full of them, but this sort of shop is very handy when you want one.
