As one of the other reviews says, the do love asking for I.D when buying alcohol and ciggies. I’ve been legally buying beer for almost 10 years from here but these last 2 or 3 years or so they’ve changed their ways and not in a good way. I live 5 mins away and used to go in there every few days, now I go in about once a month simply because a 27 year old shouldn’t be asked for I.D.
It is very clean inside and some things are well priced but they never have any bread!!! Overall I avoid going in here usually as they don’t treat their customers with respect but its in an ideal location…shame.

I DO NOT like this Co-op. I don’t know whats happened since it changed from GT Smiths but the workers in there LOVE asking for I.D. I’m 26 years old, there’s no way I look under 21, never mind 18. Its namely the younger ones, especially that little idiot who I think might have left now thank god. But saying that, I really try and avoid going in because being my age and a little 17 year old asking me for I.D is highly offensive, they are taking the p*ss. Recently there were 2 lads in front of me, blatantly about 22-25 years old and because one didn’t have I.D (who wasn’t even buying beer, his friend was, he was buying some food) the woman wouldn’t let the one with I.D buy beer. Now there’s the law and there’s common sense!! Are they thick or something?! These poor lads didn’t have a clue what was going on because they probably haven’t been I.D’d in years, never mind refused a sale. DO NOT SHOP HERE AND BOOST THESE LOSERS PATHETIC EGOS.

The co-op in Ackworth is a pretty big one, so it sells a decent range of stuff.

I like shopping at the Co-op because of their ethical policies and many of their meat products are more animal-welfare friendly than in other supermarkets.

The co-op in Ackworth has a great clearance shelf each day, where you can pick up cheap sandwiches and other things that are close to the sell-by date.

They are just in the middle of a major refurbishment at the moment, which is looking good
