I cannot imagine that the Hakalok would serve cold bad tasting food. Apart from anything else, the kitchen is clearly in view from the restaurant, and the staff bend over backwards to help.
I think the food is great, I've never had a bad meal, my two sons opt for the Hakalok always if we go out to eat with them. Its a lovely place to have in WGC, especially in this area.

The food here has always been excellent: well-cooked, professionally presented, and with service attentive to necessary detail (that is, neither servile nor officious — just ensuring each diner was comfortable and pleased).
Some excellent starters are on offer — many if not all of them bearing the mark of individual attention (very much a rarity these days).
Among the mains, I would single out the delicious soft-shelled crab, which came on a bed of crisp ginger and spring onion which most chefs would envy; some of the Chinese dishes (for example, beef w ginger and spring onion); the rendang (!); and any of the noodle dishes (we have tried four, and all four were well above average).
We have eaten here four times now in the past month or so, always
at lunchtime, sometimes Wednesdays, sometimes Sunday. The quality and value of the food compares well with what is served in London.

I was disappointed with the service on 2 occasions. My husband and I were met by a stony faced waitress , no smiley welcome here! She looked fed up and impatient. Both times my meal came first with several minutes delay till my husbands meal arrived. I dint like the small bowls you are given, I would much prefer a plate. I am not surprised it is always empty, for the price they charge, I expect better.

i was very disappointed the last time i went for a meal at this restaurant, the food was cold and was given wrong dish, the fish did not taste good.
the menu was different and worse than previously had.
i have previously recommended this restaurant to friends, but unless it gets back to that standard i will not be going back.

Offensive content?
This is a lovely resturant that has an excellent menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and they sometimes have entertainment while you eat. You are able to get takeaway which is reasonably priced.
