Hi chad here, very upset to read your comments and also very apologetic that you felt dissapointed with your haircut. If you had told me at the time you were not happy with what I had done for you then we could of rectified the problem then and there, but unfortunately you did not and instead wrote this comment. However,if you could call for a chat i will be more than happy for you to come back to the salon and get a complimentary haircut from myself or another member of staff of your preference.

Wes and Chad at Urban roots are truly wonderful hairdressers , Wes cuts and colours my hair just way I want it , unlike a particular hairdressers in Sutton Coldfield, Gracechurch Centre where I had a terrible haircut! over a year ago , its a lovely experience, going to Urban roots , its always friendly and most importantly………they listen ! how many ego mad hairdressers do that nowadays ?

I have been a customer of Chad’s at Urban Roots for some years. I can highly recommend him. Getting a good cut is half the battle. It’s so handy that they are open late 2 nights a week which means I can pop in after work rather than having to come into Birmingham on a Saturday.

I have been using Urban Roots every 6-8 weeks for around 8 years and have ALWAYS found them to be friendly, professional and honest. I have been stopped and asked in the street for where my hair has been cut, as even when hair has grown, it still keeps its shape well. The staff go out of their way to tend to every need. They are really child friendly and I have been able to do everything from breast feed under the black gown to my children's first hair cuts. My girls are quite shy but are so comfortable with the atmosphere there that we couldn't go anywhere else. I have had my hair cut by both Wes and Chad and would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone (none of that pretentious trendy salon stuff and people of all ages seen in there, whilst still remaining 'cool'). Can't believe the negative comments below - are they sure they have the right salon?!!!

Urban Roots is fabulous and everyone should know about it!
The salon is right by New Street station on Lower Temple Street, so is easy to find and central. Urban Roots is a family-ran salon set up by brothers Chad and Wesley, with a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, not at all pretentious like some other city-centre salons. The staff really take care of you; my jacket was hung up, I was offered 3 drinks, brought magazines and kept amused by friendly banter. So far so good!
Chad gave me the most thorough consultation I’ve ever had; he found out exactly what I wanted and explained which tones would suit me and how he’d finely weave through highlights to look natural and rectify the blunt dye line I had previously been left with. He even asked if I wear my hair up so he’d know to colour underneath too. Different concentrations of dye were used on the sides and the top of my head so they would develop at the same time and could all be washed out together.
The Tigi BedHead products they used made my hair smell delicious, and the blow-drying technique of using barrel brushes as rollers left my hair as bouncy as my walk.
There are 12 chair stations in the salon around a quirky descending spiral staircase where the other lovely staff (Mary, Carla, Matt and Tony) work their magic.
Also, they are currently running a student offer of 25% off with Mary; meaning women’s cuts start from £22.50 and colours from £45, and there's 20% off for all new clients Monday to Thursday.

Wow! This salon is great. Everyone's friendly and welcoming. Mary is fantastic. She listened to what I wanted and as I wanted a difficult style the first time I visited she told me straight she wasn't comfortable doing it. We opted for an easier style and re-booked for the more complicated style to be done when she could be supervised. That booking was today. I absolutely love it. I have never had so many compliments about my hair before - even the blokes at work have noticed it's been done, which is a first! I'd definitely book with Mary again and have no qualms about recommending this salon to anyone - in fact I have told everyone at work where I've had my hair done I've been so impressed. Big thumbs up from me.

Great hairdressers, especially lovely Mary, who not only spent time listening to what I wanted to have done (and actually doing it!), but was so unpretentiously chatty and bubbly that made the whole experience even more pleasant.
Don't think I'll be looking for other saloons any more, because I will definitely come back here

This lovely little hairdressers is a family run place, and the staff employed here are very good at what they do! I can recommend Chad to cut hair, and the girl who normally washes my hair (Don’t know her name I’m afraid!) is wonderful - she does an amazing haed-massage.
The first time I went there, Chad completely put me at ease and spent time talking about what I want, and what would suit me, before styling my hair exactly how we agreed. They made an effort to include me in conversations, as well as making conversation with me. And they remebered me after the first time I went, which was a nice touch.
I even went to these guys after attempting to dye my hair at home and failing miserably, and they were so good - they fixed it there and then for me, and were not judgemental like some hairdressers can be, but laughed along with me at how silly the situation was!

Urban Roots is a small hairdressers very handily located for New Street Station. I had my hair cut there for a quite a few years, although now that I have less time and kids, I go local, I would really recommend Wes at Urban Roots. He did a great job cutting my hair - which is longish and thick and steering me through starting to colour my grey hairs as well! They are very friendly and chatty - although they are also quite chilled so that if it is obvious you don’t want to chat, they’ll leave you to it. The few times that Wes washed my hair it was great - it was like getting a free head massage but most of the time you got the very young girls, who were fine. Most of the rest of the clientele seem to be young trendy sorts but don’t let that put you off.
