Castleton, a small pretty village in the Peak District lies just a thirty minute drive outside Sheffield. Towering over the village is the ruins of the beautiful old castle that stands like a gothic reminder of times past. The many hotels and guest houses offer various options if a weekend stay is planned. Most are quite expensive but to stay in such a lovely , historic village certainly demands a little but of pampering to enjoy it at it’s best. In the summer months the little lanes are packed with walkers and tourists. At Christmas the village is adorned with shimmering lights. The many caves and caverns in the area are very interesting.
