Review of Mediterranean Supermarket from 11 December 2008

There are so many independent food shops lining the streets of Stokey some good, some bad and some definitely foul. But the Mediterranean Supermarket is a good’un, especially if you venture no further than the first few feet of the shop. It has the standard array of long life stuff and packaged bits in the back and fridges full of cheap, sweet, headache inducing wine, all of which you can pick up anywhere else. But make the effort to go to this rather than any of the other local joints for the super fresh veg. There isn’t a huge selection but they do have, and this is why I love this place so much, big trays of great salads (none of your iceberg crud) and huge bunches of super fresh herbs. And a ton of limes for a quid to boot. Great if you’re planning a cocktail fest. Having said all this, last time I went, raining again and dragging my partner from the far side of Stoke Newington to get there all the salads and herbs were limp. I guess we all have our off days.

Review of Mediterranean Supermarket from 24 November 2008

Convenient and local with not a bad selection of food and fruit and vedgies that are generally quite fresh. Sort of like every single other giant off licence or very small supermarket.
Friendly staff and they have the added attraction of a little deli for meats and olives and other mediterranean turkish treats.
I’m prepared to walk a few extra metres to get to this place.
