I've read some reviews here that are bad and some that are good.  I don't recognise anything said in the bad comments, as we regularly go there, usually for the breakfast or lunch when the kids are at school, and it is always friendly, clean and the food tastes great.

My only complain, is that the food is so good, I end up eating too much and can't manage the pudding.

Parents were down from Scotland, tried the Crown Carvery at a lunchtime. Choices that day were turkey, beef, gammon, I went for turkey, Dad had beef, Mum & Hubby had gammon, no complaints from anyone, all enjoyed their food, plenty on the plate, hot (it had only recently opened). The price was extremely good (sorry can't remember exact price, but you could not cooked it yourself for price. Drinks reasonablly priced for the the area. Too stuffed for puddings! Friendly LandLady. There is a small parking area at side of Pub.

Think I must have gone to a different place to the other reviews. While we have eaten at Crown Carvery’s before this is the first time here. Not expecting a meal Gordon Ramsey would put his name to, we expected it to be hot, edible and properly cooked, and we were not disappointed. The beef was tender, the veg wasn’t over cooked and as I say, it was hot, and for £3.69 a bargain. The staff was friendly and we defiantly will be using The Inn By The Sea again. If I wanted to nit-pick then it would be the beer glass was not the cleanest of glasses.

We are regular visitors to the Elma Inn near Fair Oak and decided to try the Inn by the Sea which visited on Sarurday evening for a Carvery, not a patch on the Elma! the meat was fine but the veg looked as if it had been on the hot plates since lunch time, it was all dry and overcooked. The roast spuds were hard and burnt. The table (number 5) although laid, was sticky and the varnish was comming off. The carpet and skirting board around out table was filthy with long term dirt. We were far from impressed and are very unlikly to return.

Visited this place Saturday 21st Feb..never again the food was awful and not very hot, the beef was tough, the turkey was processed both meats were inedible, the roast potatoes were prepacked ones that had been 'warmed up’ so many times they tasted like 'disinfectant’. The vegetables were frozen peas, frozen swede and carrots, we were told the rest had all gone, it was 7.30 in the evening so they still had a couple of hours serving time. I know the meals are cheap, but they should at least be edible..I took the meat home for the cat even he couldn’t eat the beef! Oh yes the cranberry sauce was lovely…beware avoid The Inn on The Sea - Lee

oh my god why are you so picky, that's what's wrong with people these days, if there's a smidgen of bacteria in the air you would be seen in an anthrax mask, I have been to in by the sea many of times and its lovely, the meat was tender and the vegetable were fine, yes not everything has to be perfect when you appear from having your head up your own ass and hit reality, you should stop and think of all the people who are starving in this world you posh twat!

Have only visited the Inn by the Sea once but I will not be hurrying back. We went on a Sunday afternoon, looking for a drink and some good food - it had been recommended to me by a friend. Unfortunately although it wasnt busy the tables were dirty littered with empty plates and empty glasses. We managed to sort ourselves out somewhere to sit and ordered some drinks whilst looking at the menu. The drinks were served in old glasses (looked as if they were dishwasher damaged/misted) and the whole pub smelt like a greasy cafe. We saw some food being served as we finished our drinks and I wasnt enthralled so we drank up and left without ordering. Hopefully this was just an unfortunate afternoon, as it had been recommended by others but I wont be going back to visit.
