I've had a sandwich here before & enjoyed it, then ate lunch there today & had a terrible experience.
I had penne arrabiata & a coffee. The coffee - i have to say - was great & reasonably priced.
The arrabiata was just too spicy to taste - so much so that I gave up part way in & bought a bag of crisps instead. I love spicy food, and normally order the spiciest dish on the menu in most restaurants, but this was (sadly) off the scale.
I then paid on card. When asking for the receipt, the owner looked slightly sheepish - I couldn't figure out why. Then of course I spotted the surcharge for using the card on the receipt. "You didn't tell me there was a card charge," I said. "Sorry, I thought someone told you." he said - having served me himself and not mentioned it.
All in all, the best part of £8 for a coffee, a bag of crisps, and a bad experience.

Found this place on qype. For the owners it seems it's all about the people and the food, we had a healthy fry up and felt extremely welcomed. The place is small, cosy, very clean, noticed alot regulars, and loved that the tea was made from real tea leaves. Top marks!

Excellent coffee, poached eggs and portugese custard tarts. Highly commended.
I recently discovered this wonderful little cafe on Cleveland Street. It does amazing smoothies, porridge, fried egg sandwiches, toasted focaccia, and has a picture saying, “LOVE” on the wall. The cafe hits the right mixture of healthy and comfort food, fried breakfasts and smoothies, porridge or bagels. All the hot chocolate, teas and coffees are fair trade too. The staff were extremely friendly and made my order to order, as it were, toasting my avocado in my bap for me. Perfect!
