4 reviews of Hillsborough Hotel & Public House in English
Am I reviewing this as a hotel or a pub? Doesn't really matter I guess, full marks for both. Liked the place from the moment we stepped inside and we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff.
The beers were really good, those from their own brewery (including a green coloured ale) and the guests. The food is worth recommending too - we managed to eat here once in the evening, as well as devouring a couple of breakfasts (you can actually get a beer with breakfast if you are man mad enough)
6 rooms, watch out for the haunted toilet in room 3!

This has been my "local" for 4 years now. Since Andrew & Helen took it over it has been fantastic. They have their own micro-brewery in the cellar (which I have been shown around) so they have a few of their own brews on at any time accompanied with several guest ales from far and wide. They also have a great menu during the week and do a FANTASTIC Sunday lunch. As a guide to the food, they serve hand cut chips cooked to perfection. (not many places do that anymore) The decor is plain and traditional and the seating is comfortable (they even have a couple of cozy leather setees! The staff are friendly and knowledgable about the products on sale and most importantly for me (and my greyhound) the are dog friendly! They have quiz nights and folk music nights (not too sure of the days as I don't bother) Give it a try. You won't be dissapointed!!!

The Hillsborough Hotel is a good stop on Sheffield’s ‘Beer Valley’ trail with a tram stop close by to take you into town or to other real-ale pubs on the trail. There’s a great selection of beers brewed at the on-site Crown micro-brewery (including stout) and there are also some ‘proper’ Continental lagers on tap.
The main drinking area is plainly furnished with lots of bare wood and the conservatory at the rear is a winner with great views along the Don Valley.
Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable and there’s also food and B&B accommodation, although we haven’t tried either of these so can’t comment on them.
