Scarlett Studio is the now the only place I will go to for a hair cut and style in Oxford. Much cheaper than the higher end salons (who, in my past experience, aren’t worth the amount of money) and really attentive and friendly staff. I have a rather conventional cut, and Livi did a wonderful job with it. They also do some more extreme and different styles. I would highly recommend to any one – male or female.
I've been going to Elise for five years now, in fact I've been living abroad for the last year but I don't dare let anyone else touch my hair! I made that mistake before, and I was utterly disappointed with the result in comparison to what Elise and the others can do. This place is really chilled and the prices won't give you a heart attack either. When I was younger I went for more different looks, but now I'm working I stick to more conventional styles and they're great at doing both.
The most important thing to say is, don't sell out and got to some overpriced place in town. This is a perfect example of what can be gained by going to a self owned business where people actually care about taking the time to do a good job and not just getting you out the door and the cash in their hands as quickly as possible.
Really friendly staff and a relaxed environment - I actually enjoy going to get my hair cut!
Although they do a lot of unusual things I just have a very normal style, which is always done extremely well. I go to Jemma and she's great at understanding what I want and what will suit my hair.
I've never been a big fan of trips to the hairdressers, however since discovering Scarlett Studio these visits have been far less daunting.
Great value (£22 for a woman's wet cut), friendly and they'll do pretty much anything you want, and do it well, too.
And even though everything about this place is definitely cool, there's a real mix of clientelle. Check it out.
I don’t find it very interesting getting my hair cut - in fact, I usually hate it, so this sort of place scares me! It is, however, undeniably cool. What a refreshing change from the sleek, magazine clone salons of central Oxford that charge £40 just for a trim.
This does all the usuals (women’s cut and blow dry £29) with a discount for students (usually £2-£5) NB: this only applies Tues-Fri.
However, what’s really exciting is the more unusual stuff they can do: think bright red hair dye, purple streaks, or dreadlocks. Yes, real dreadlocks. They do synthetic ones and natural ones, and remove them as well (hopefully not a sign that you won’t like them!). Prices range from £25 for a retouch to £150 for the most expensive synthetic full-head dreadlocks, but there are lots of different options, and with a free consultation you should get a good idea of what’s right for you.
Let’s see some Qypers with dreads wandering around Oxford!
