Amble Inn

Under new management as of April 2011. As a local i have noticed a massive difference since then. Recently finished a referb inside and new paint job outside and are soon planning to have the garden changed too. Very friendly staff and very welcoming. New menu is being produced with a wide variety of options to pick from. Open mic nights happen every other Tuesday which are always a good laugh as well as seasonal events too. Recently had a very successful halloween with many different things for the children during the day and then the drinks kept flowing into the night. All in all the Amble Inn is a lovely place to be.

I went there on Christmas day with my partner. The atmosphere was OK although a bit quiet and the bar man was pleasant. However, the food was absolutely awful!!!
We paid £50 each for the dinner which consisted of overcooked black potatoes that were covered in gravy and hidden under the turkey so that you couldn't see their colours(it was so hard to cut them that we believe that's the reason why they gave us steak knives), the vegetables were extremely overcooked and did not taste fresh, there were no Yorkshire puddings, no piglets in blankets... Very very disappointing!! Especially on Christmas day. The pudding was just as bad (rhubarb crumble that was soggy and sour).
The service was also very slow, it took about 45 mins to an hour between each course.
Anyway, I decided to email the pub, no reply. I then wrote to them, no reply. They can't even be bothered to apologise.
My advice is do not go there guys!!!

Amble Inn was completely refurbished about six months ago and it now prides itself on promoting local suppliers. On Thursday nights they hold a Tapas night. We had a reasonable Sunday lunch there - a tasty lamb roast but we found the portions (of everything) a little lacking in generosity. Pleasant-enough surroundings and definitely an improvement since the refurb.
