Alfaholic I walked past here today about 1pm ( Sunday ) and it was absolutely packed, people queing out through the doors in fact. So they must be doing something right. Good luck to them for providing such brilliant value for money all round…..

Went for late breakfast at Uplands Diner following my daughter's all-niter birthday party the night before. Made an attempt at consuming 'the beast': 5-7 rashers of bacon, 3 sausages, 3 fried eggs, mushrooms, baked beans, spaghetti in tomato sauce, hash brown, chips (UK fries), several slices of toast and bread & butter...All for GPB 7.75 (I think). Jumbo b'fasts and a wide range of others all freshly cooked to order. Also serves jumbo fish n' chips and a whole lot else. Place teeming with good-humored students, many with hang-overs! Best to get taxi to and from since parking is hell. Needless to say, I failed to defeat 'the beast'. Don't start with the bread! Managed to get down (and keep down) a big chunk of it. Set me up for the next 24+ hours! Excellent value. Great fun! An institution. Gone are the days of a free b'fast if you made it - and photos at the back are getting a bit old. Lack of 'loos (only 3 but did include disabled) could be critical! I would have flown to the UK for this experience alone.

It has a great selection of breakfasts all cooked in an open kitchen. Fast friendly service and they serve a surprisingly good cappuccino. Cheap and cheerful!
A great place for a massive fry up.
Loads of students live in Uplands and many of them frequent the Uplands Diner. They have a (I would say perhaps unneccesarily) huge range of breakfast options from tea and toast to 'The Beast’ mentioned in the review below. All very reasonably priced.
They also have electrical sockets by the tables so you can charge your phone up or plug your laptop in. Tidy.
This cafe is very popular with students because it’s right in the centre of uplands. It’s a great place to have a full english breakfast after a heavy night on the town. They give big portions and is relatively cheap while the food is always of a good quality. On the menu is a breakfast called the beast which includes almost everything you could think of. There used to be a challenge that if you could eat a whole beast then it would be free of charge and have your picture taken, but I haven’t seen the offer advertised for a while now.
