Popped in whilst passing by and was given a warm welcome by the Landlord. Made us feel at home even Woody (our Dog). best Guinness I have had in ages and the food was really really good. Were going back again soon for some friendly banter with the Landlord.

Cheers

Im a regular customer to the plough and anchor and are continously being amazed by the quality of the pub in general. They seem to have taken a strong positive happy approach and i can see real improvement.
They are now offering a range of homemade pies from lamb and mint to game suet pudding, all priced at 7.95 which is incredible for the oustanding pies bursting with flavours. If that doesnt tempt you, you must go down to try their new homemade deserts from chocolate and rum gateau to baileys and white chocolate cheesecake which are only 3.90 again extremly cheap for the big portion sizes and the passion of presentation gone into every dish.
Overall the friendly welcoming staff, the blaze of the open fire, and the happy atmosphere is why you should definately take a trip to the plough and anchor.

Visited the Plough and Anchor for the first time today and had a very enjoyable time. Decor is nice and the atmosphere is inviting and relaxed. We ordered Sunday roast which was delicious! Large portions of good quality meat, big yorkshire puds and roasties. We will be back! Definitely recommend a visit.

Friday night was advertised as a "Fish night" had only one choice of Halibut which none of us had - service was negative - prices astronomical - won't be going back.

Having frequented this establishment several times previously I was looking forward to good food and service However;
Restaurant was busy and had to await over an hour for our food after our order was taken!
Food which was once outstanding is now merely average (I understand they have a change of Chef!!!), In fact all our meals were only half eaten....

Disappointing to say the least - We won't be going back.

Very slow service and unimpressive quality of food. All round very disappointing and wouldn't go again sadly.

One of our Bicester team's top 5 places to eat in the area. There is a great choice of excellent food, an expansive à la carte and lunchtime menu, and it's all made in-house. A lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

I went here on friday and its the first time since the refurb that i have been there. The big open fire in the bar is great and give it a really nice atmosphere.

I had Mussels (£7.50) and then Steak and Chips (£14.95) which i did enjoy. The chips were a little over done for my liking but the start of mussels were really nice.

It did seem a little quite, this may be as it isnt in a town. It is located on the A40 between Aylesbury and Bicester. Just after the turning on your right that takes you to Grendon Underwood.

Well worth visiting.

The restaurant has recently been refurbished and it is now a gastro pub with a large conservatory area. They also have a new chef and offer an excellent choice of contemporary British Food. There is an a la carte menu with a wide range of meal choices and a lunchtime menu and daily specials. The atmosphere is lovely, especially in the original pub building with low ceilings and subdued lighting. Prices range form about 10 – 20 pounds for 1-3 courses and include vegetarian options. They offer a traditional Sunday roast beef dinner and sometimes have live music in the afternoons. This is a good place to stop after a visit to Waddesdon Manor which is nearby.
