Used to come here when I first moved to London and worked just round the corner. I was only vaguely aware of the hotel it was attached to.
Going back after a fair few years I feel fondly about the place. It’s not the most amazing pub in London, but for a hotel bar it’s certainly not bad and it’s kind of unique in it’s size and it’s feel. I couldn’t help but see it as something of a cross between an English pub and an American sports bar (it’s very spacious and has a fair few TVs dotted around). Such a bar, especially given its location in a hotel, could serve as a halfway house for American tourists, allowing them to get acclimatized to the English pub in vaguely familiar surroundings. They will not get used to London prices here however as it’s actually cheaper than your average bar!
