5 reviews of Quo Vadis Club in English
I love that not just any one can get in a freind took me an it was very cool.
Such a classy but cheeky place, super fun, full of all sorts of characters. Best cocktails in town, with award winning barmen.
Food is aweseom too
Just gotta work out how to get in! If you fail they now have a bar downstairs!
DO IT
I was guested into this private club above Soho's Quo Vadis restaurant this week. It's the sort of member's club I could actually see myself belonging to: it was fancy, not huge, relatively relaxed, and with some really nice reception service.
The cocktails were nice, and the snacks were plentiful. The surroundings encouraged chat. There's a no-mobile policy. A guy plays piano tunes - often not the ones you'd expect - and gives it a touch of class and also adds background noise to keep your chatting relatively private.
If you get a chance to go, take it. Nice and relaxing.
From the pianist who seemed to know every song in the book (I especially loved his rendition of Michael Jackson's Thriller!) to the cushy seats and quirky curios on display, there's not much not to love about this members club (except for the fact that I'm not one - a member that is).
I had the good fortune of having a tipple or two upstairs at Quo Vadis earlier this week as part of a bloggers' night out with the creator of Whitley Neill gin. I'm keen to go back and eager to learn more about becoming a member.
You have to be a member, or signed-in by one, to gain access to the elegantly stylish club-bar above the Quo Vadis restaurant. Times have changed since I was last here (when it had definitely seen better days and was looking a little bedraggled around the edges). Today, you’ll feel the glitterati-chic vibe as you glide-up the smart staircase and take-in the grown-up, tobacco-brown blocked, raised-flocked wallpaper.
Enter and your coats will be smartly hung, in the silver-hued dignified art-deco wardrobes; the refinement continues as the pianist plays a fitting accompaniment to the setting. Sophistication pervades in the suave bar with its cultured display and selection. The red leather club chairs combine with squashy brown leather sofas and a choice of cultivated book titles to browse, as you sip and relax.
The cocktail menu demands to be read with its tongue-in-chic humour. Scotch lovers might well be tempted (or amused) by the Coveted Wife (Glenmorangie, apricot brandy, cream and nutmeg) or if you’re feeling fragile, perhaps a glass of Penicillin is what the 'doctor’ ordered (Dewar’s 12, honey, ginger, lemon and Islay Malt). Then again, perhaps a taste of Hello Sailor might better suit your needs.
Don’t neglect to visit the loo, where the style features continue… although I can only vouch for the Ladies. If a little black dress is your outfit of choice, you’ll enjoy the diamanté-studded arrows providing a guiding light in your cubicle.
Timinator I still think it’s funny that the first time you said “diamanté arrow” I was sure you said “daemon tiara”.
