Seeing a show in the Royal Albert Hall is quite a special event. It’s rather disorienteering with a million different doors and odd canteeny type things stuck in little corners that don’t actually serve proper food - better off going somewhere else for a quick dinner before the show.
Once inside the domed interior lends it one of the best venues with brilliant sound quality. I went to see a John Mayer concert here and felt it much more a traditional venue. Just like Brixton Astoria lends itself to a certain crowd, I think Royal Albert Hall hold a slightly more cultured, academic feel to it, and definitely worth experiencing a show in here.

Came to see Eric Clapton here last year and it was absolutely amazing. If you’re a visitor to London and looking to go and see a gig, check the listings for the Albert Hall as there is really nothing like it in Europe!
BBC proms next!

The experience at royal Albert hall is great! I went to watch cirque du sole and it was my best live experiences yet. The hall is so grand the size of it makes the experiences that one bit better. The sound you get from all around the room is great. The food at the restaurant is also very good, the service is also top notch. A must go to place in London.

I have never been inclined to visit the Royal Albert Hall but you always hear people rant and rave about the place. Guess it never appealed to me until friends of mine dragged me with to go and watch Cirque du Solei one afternoon. There are a lot of entrances and the amount of people at each entrance can be overwhelming but the staff does a great job to get everyone inside quickly without any hassles. All staff members are neatly dressed, like a real classy place to be at. Once you are inside, you are amazed at how well it is built. The seats on the ground are a bit too close to each other but we still sat comfortably. The show was amazing inside with the lights reflecting off the roof and the sound inside was great. This place would blow your mind with a band playing in there… definitely recommend you visit it at least once.

The Royal Albert Hall is a very impressive venue. It looks amazing walking up to it the architecture is fantastic. I have been to see Eric Clapton there 3 times and the combination of him and the hall is always outstanding. As the building is round I have got lost a couple of times but nothing too bad! It is in easy walking distance to the tube and bus stations. The seats are old fashioned but fairly comfortable as you would expect in most theatre type venues there isn’t much leg room, but the acoustics are amazing and make any musical visit well worth it.

A brilliant venue, both as an entertainment/music hall and as a tourist spot. The building itself remains as majestic and ornate as ever.
I’ve been there a few times for everything from Cirque de Soleil, operas like Carmen and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I’ve never been there for other types of acts, but am certainly looking forward for a chance to do so!
Don’t forget that in the daytime, there are tours (which you have to pay for, about 8 pounds per adult and 7 pounds per student I think), plus a touristy shop for souvenirs and the like. There are also a few eateries, but I’ve never tried them.

A stunning venue whatever you are watching, have seen many things there from music to ballet to Cirque du Soleil to comedy. The atmosphere here always seems to make the show even more special.

This place is just glorious and ornate, and largely unchanged which only serves to make it more wonderful to be in. Some amazing acts and events have been here, such as the MOBOs, Concert For George (Harrison), Ecce Cor Meum and of course the annual BBC Proms.
There are various eateries inside, all as lovely as the others; you may need to book beforehand though for some of these places. It isn’t cheap but not overpriced, and the service, atmosphere and quality of the food justify these prices completely. You can find something to suit anyone, be it vegetarian, vegan, kosher, allergies.
The in-house stewards are lovely and friendly and genuinely interested, whereas sometimes the agencies they get in can be rather abrupt and surly, so if you can, look for a steward in the RAH jacket!!
You are able to buy tickets online and see exactly where your seat will be before buying. They’re also helpful on the phone if you need to ring them.
Access is available for wheelchair users and there are staff available to assist these customers.
You can get buses from town to here and also towards Hammersmith; the nearest station is High Street Kensington but it’s halfway between there and Knightsbridge.

The home of the proms!
A beautiful venue that is incredible ornate.
The cheap chairs at the top of the hall are rather hard, so take something comfy to sit on or hire a cushion.
I’ve always had a wonderful experience at the Royal Albert Hall and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
If you get an opportuntiy to go, please do. Not all the tickets are expensive and you can still see the stage.
It’s pretty far west on the district line, then a fair walk from the station, but it’s worth the trip!

The royal albert hall is one of the best places i have seen a concert. I saw eric clapton here a couple of years ago. After mainly going to large arenas and stadiums this made a very welcome change. It felt a lot more intimet and we were very close to the stage. The building its self is incredible and well worth a visit on its own merit. A truly great experiece.

unique building offering a huge variety of events. This building represents everything good about British architecture. I have been here many times but am always in awe of the sheer beauty of this place. Next visit is to see Cirque de Soleil. This is something really worth looking forward to.

I remember a great concert with http://open.spotify.com/track/3TUP6YYKP96DTHtoAHge5G in the Royal Albert Hall. One of “these moments” when he came on stage. You may argue it was because of him but I bet it was the combination with this fantastic venue. I´ll never forget.

I’ve been to two concerts here so far - Eels and Joanna Newsom - and both of these shows are two of my favourite gigs I’ve ever been to. This venue is simply beautiful and is a must to visit for anyone who is or will ever be in London.
Shaped ovally and with excellent stadium seating, no seat in this place is really a bad seat. I’ve never sat very high up (I get dizzy just looking up when I’ve been there!) but I can imagine a show is wonderful from up there as well. All decked out in red velvet and gold trim, the place looks (and is) historical and beautiful. The acoustics in there are incredible and you can tell that the performers (at least the ones I’ve seen) are genuinely happy and honoured to be playing in such a wonderful venue. I will gladly go back here again and again for brilliant shows.

Was here a few years ago, I absolutely loved it I thought it was an amazing hall! Very nicely laid out, even the parts outside of the main hall were lovely& the staff are very friendly and helpful (I was there performing as part of a choir so we got to look around alot of the place). Found it very easy to get to. Would definately go back there again if there was anything on that I am interested in.

An amazing venue, just beautiful.
We saw the Secret Policeman’s Ball here but want to go back for music!
Great bars too with champagne at a reasonable price!

A beautiful venue in the middle of London., which covers a huge range of performance styles. Well organised and staff are incredibly helpful. Fantastic atmosphere and going here is a very special occasion. It is such an integral part of the history of English culture. Events range from the annual Proms season to Rock concerts. The unusual shape makes it very interesting, acoustics aren’t brilliant, but the atmosphere is worth it. Bar prices can be expensive and it gets very busy - so worth pre-ordering when possible. Some of the seats can cause Vertigo though - the higher up you are the more you feel you are peering over a precipice!

I recently went to the royal Albert Hall for the first time to see a concert. It was an extremely impressive building, and after having attended many arena concerts, I loved the intimicy of the place. I recommend it thoroughly!

The Royal Albert Hall is a superb venue. Although my perception probably owes something to ‘wide-eyed province-dweller’ syndrome, when I visited for the first time recently (following that visit up with another one shortly afterwards), I was absolutely spellbound by the interior and the atmosphere generally. I gather that some seating areas are more desirable than others for whatever reason (acoustics/view etc.), but for me, the experience of just being there was something very special. The staff and facilities are excellent and, for somewhere with such a palatial look, the Hall has a surprisingly informal atmosphere. Definitely a venue that every live music lover should visit at least once.

The royal albert hall is a great building with an wealth of history. I watched Jimmy carr here and when you hear the roar of laughter, it does seem incredibly intimidating for the performer. Recommended for a night out

I saw Pete Doherty at the Royal Albert Hall and what an amazing venue it is. The acoustics are great and even though everyone stormed the stage at the end I really enjoyed it.
The building itself is fascinating and the hill opposite is a good place to see it in its entirety.
There are usually some silly rules about drinks and often you have to finish your drink before you can go inside and don’t expect to be able to bring anything with you apart from water.

We went to one of the Christmas concerts that are an annual event at the Royal Albert Hall. The concert was outstanding. The Hall is an impressive building. But I recommend to never eat at the Victoria restaurant.
Because the Hall is so large and is circular in shape, the seats that face the stage directly are very far from the stage. All of the seats in the upper balcony are also very far from the stage. So if you buy seats facing the stage or anywhere in the circle, make sure to bring binoculars. The main floor does not slope toward the stage, so seats there do not have a good view and should be avoided. The best seats are in the stalls (which are above the arena floor), on the sides of the stage. The side seats in the stalls swivel so the strain is not bad on your neck or back.
You can only eat at the Victoria restaurant in the Hall if you have tickets for that evening’s performance. We were seated for dinner at 6:10 pm before a concert that began at 7:30. We thought that would allow plenty of time and that eating at the Hall would be convenient and avoid any worry about traffic making us late getting to the Hall. They took our order promptly, but our salads didn’t arrive for over half an hour. We were running ut of time so we quickly ate our food and just barely made it to our seats before the concert started. All the parties in the dining room had arrived around the same time. Best to just avoid the restaurant

I had the opportunity to attend the last night of the 2008 BBC Proms at the RAH and the experience was absolutely unparalleled. The RAH is one of my favourite venues both from an architectural standpoint and as a place to enjoy music and the company of others. Promming on the last night with the flags waving and the blue ceiling soaring overhead is spectacular and should be experienced by everyone.

Probably my favourite venue to see a show.
Last year we went and saw the latest Cirque du Soleil’s creation: Varekai and were blown away!
The venue itself is beautiful to behold, and walking in and up the stairs alone is an experience. It just feels so decadent, like a real treat.
The seats are comfy and I think visibility must be amazing. We paid for good seats at the 2nd level lodges, but from what I could see the circular seating arrangement offers amazing viewpoints with no flaws to everyone!
This coming January (2009) Quidam is coming to town and I’m definitely planning to go again.
I can’t wait to see the inside again!
Oh, I have heard that there are guided tours on occasion. There are open orchestra sessions which are free to attend, but those are during the day and more appropriate for Imperial College students from around the corner.

The Royal Albert Hall is a beautiful venue, and well worth a visit. The concerts and shows (like many other reviewers I came here to see Cirque de Soleil) are well picked and excellent quality. Highly recommended

One of the best place to go for concerts. The sound system is excellent giving some great acoustics. Note that you may no want to buy the most expensive tickets available as I find the sound quality is as good even on a £13 priced ticket. Recommended.

The Royal Albert Hall acts as a National institution for cultural, scientific and academic purposes and lots more. It also hosts a great number of operatic performances and concerts. Food and drink are available from the restaurant, brasserie and bars. Cameras, video cameras and recording equipment are not permitted. The Hall is available for hire by event organisers and commercial promoters.
