I’ve been to a lot of department stores but Selfridges is outstanding. I as first attracted by the pole dances in the vast shop window at the oxford street store in London.

It was just as visually pleasing inside when I entered in the beauty hall, there were cosmetics counter from every brand you could ever think of like clinique, Bobbi brown Elizabeth Arden, estee lauder, channel and Christian Dior. And the same range was available in the fragrance sector of the beauty hall as if you’ve seen it on the adverts it’s here

very posh corner shop - not very welcoming. Food hall a good place to find some unusual items- several shades of pink smarties and maple syrup sugar- costa a fortune, but oh! the meringues. Generally overpriced.

I find this place a total rip off.
You can find most of the stock in other shops for 1/2 the price.
Good for all the new rich.

I love going to Selfridges, everything is under one roof, and there is a wealth of beautiful things. That however is also its down side for me! I have to only take cash and no cards as the temptation to splash out on beautiful designer shoes and jewelry otherwise becomes too much for my weak will to take!
However if you love to shop and have money to burn…this is the best place in London to go!

I looooooove Selfridges! It’s everything you could want or need in terms of shopping under one roof. It’s best to start at the side entrance and work your way through the trendy womens section. Also, the food is great too! January sales are also great there and you can be guaranteed to find quality designer brands at a discount.

A fantastic upscale department store. There is a large amount of clothing on offer but designer handbags, food, alcohol, cosmetics and more are on offer.

A favourite place of mine, I frequently visit for the food hall. The only place in the area to buy Lola’s cupcakes, I also love the frequent designer/boutique baked goods on offer, US food (for something different), cookies, popcorn, and other weird and wonderful foods.

A real Aladin’s Cave of treasures, this is an upscale department store and as such you will find Dior, Channel, Fendi, Jilly Choo and Louis Vuitton among other designers.

What a place it is. One of the biggest stores in central London. Many different floors and a variety of stuff to choose from. When you pass this shop it’s like you must go in and you spend whatever money you brought with you in that store alone. Oxford Street will never be the same if Selfridges ever close down.

After searching the entire of Oxford Street for my first pair of glasses on saturday, I finally ended up in Selfidges - the opticians is on the 4th floor. I was very impressed by the service I received, the staff were pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. The glasses take 1 hour to be made up to your prescription & once they are ready you receive a call or text to let you know. This is great as you can just carry on shopping or go to one of the many eateries in the store while the work is done. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to use the opticians in Selfidges.

If you only had two hours to shop in London I would recommend you spend it all in this retail heaven at the far end of Oxford Street. Selfridges has a deliciously grand building with enticing and original window displays and that’s before you even enter this cavernous department store. There is so much to rave about here but I will try and condense it: the women’s designer bags section on the ground floor has your big hitters such as Chloe and Channel alongside more up and coming and individual brands; the beauty floor has everything you could want from NARS, MAC and Benefit through to Crème De Le Mer and Biotherm via Clarins, Origins and Aveda, a word of warning here the assistants can be a bit over vigilant at times however if you do smile and chat to them you are often rewarded with new samples; women’s fashions are excellent, downstairs you have the high street range which has been further extended to include paul and joe sister and other higher end brands, this is supplemented by an excellent range of contemporary designers and prestige brands up the escalators; Women’s shoes are another highlight with an enviable range of Louboutin’s plus YSL, D&G, Marc Jacobs and for the eco-aware Stella McCartney. Another big draw card is the food hall which has every type of cuisine imaginable plus a plethora of fresh produce and a number of outlets where you can grab a quick snack. If you are feeling stressed or deflated by the shopping experience then you can hot fit it along to the hairdressers or beauty salon to perk yourself up or compliment your new purchases with a new look. Some of the best Saturday’s can be spent perusing the shelves in Selfridges stopping for a bite to eat at one of the eateries or maybe a pick me up glass of champagne and then slopping off home feeling content and retailed out – bliss. The reason you should visit this store above all others is that it is fuses high fashion with the affordable so really does have something for every pocket and every age range.

I used to work here many years ago, and I’ve always found it to be upbeat, young and fresh, well on Ground floor. The higher the floor you go, the more expensive it gets! They have loads of food places in here, and fashion from all high street stores, and then of course from the big name designers. What I like most about selfridges is the innovative window displays they have all year round, and also once a year they have a theme! A few years back it was Brazil, then it was Bollywood… they transformed the whole store, and had lots of events and goodies, so look out for that too.

Amazing if you love shopping and have the money to spend - they have everything you could want for in clothing, accessories and cosmetics/perfumes etc. If you are especially looking for designer label high end brands, this is your store. Its a tourist landmark but not only that, architecturally it is a stunning building for its time… however like most department stores after a while inside its a bit too much for the senses and for that matter the bank account!

The street is always full of astonishing window displays, it has a mix of high street fashion and designer fashion. Easy to get around when you find out the separations of department. The handbag section is very popular, as well as the shoe department. Fashion over one roof, and a tasty food hall to replenish. However, everything is so tempting it is advisable to bring more spending money or it’d be a shame to leave things where they are.

It’s hard to say anything about Selfridges that people don’t already know - yes, it’s one of the smartest places to shop in London, and consequently the world. Yes, some of the clothes and shoes are ridiculously expensive and it’s sometimes painful to just look (and try on) but not buy. Yes, everything is laid out beautifully and you feel good just walking around in such rich surroundings. But I find that the most important thing to know about Selfridges is that sometimes, if you visit at the right time, they give out free chocolates in the food hall. And if you’re really cheeky, you can just happen to wander past the counter again, and again, and again…

Selfridges is London’s very own Bloomingdale’s. Its is very similar in layout but it offers so much in the way of fashion that you come out after a shopping trir reeling with the effort of having to make choices in what to finally buy. Its an exciting place to visit as there are so many interesting promotions taking place around the shoppers.

A lot of people think of Selfridges as London’s snooty department store, but I’ve seen past this reputation, and really enjoy wandering its many floors just taking in the décor. The homeware section is beautifully laid out, and the confectionary section is like a small piece of Willy Wonka’s factory. You can get a make-up consultation from countless big cosmetic names, and the delicatessen (one of my favourite parts) has fresh and non-perishable foods from all over the world. And this is merely touching on a small part of Selfridges. There is so much to see, and the best part is, there is a range of high-quality expensive niche items, and popular-brand products at affordable prices. Everything from Armani to Topshop. Best of all, they have everything from an electronics department to a cigar department to an imported liquor department (so you can leave the boy to browse whilst you look at shoes and handbags)…..

Brilliant. We all know it and we all love or hate it, nothing inbetween and sometimes actually a little bit of both. That place is always overcrowded and sale assistants are often smug or very pushy but you know you are going to find what you want and their cosmetics department is just what a girl wants, what a girl needs. Even more so when the sale is on as the prices are very decent then.

One of my favourite 'find everything you need' stores. The building from the outside is beautiful, especially at dusk when it's all lit up. With seven floors, there is pretty much everything that might need here. It's a great place for looking for a gift (although you may not pay the cheapest price). I highly recommend the food hall (I personally find it very difficult to walk past the Krispy Kreme stand without salivating), the spa and the cosmetics hall - which can sometimes get very crowded.

The handbags section and make up floor is amazing and can suck you in for hours, there is also a hair salon and full beauty therapy treatments on offer!

The food hall is brilliant stacked with all gourmet, rare and imported goods. Anything you had overseas Selfridge's will stock.

There are plenty of cafe's, wine bar's and full serving restaurants to keep you from having to stray from the shop, perfect for spending the day in!

The layout of the shop is good and the staff are friendly and always ready to help. Besides shopping, the food hall has a big selection of food from sandwiches to pies to sushi. I love this store. Selfridges and Co. is a great department store on Oxford Street, hard to miss when coming from Oxford Circus or Marble Arch.
A beautiful English style high rise with 7 floors of menswear, womenswear, lingerie, toys, tv's, food, perfumes, barbers, spa, pretty much everything!
It's a nice establishment with a lot of history, similar to the Lafaytette Galleries in Paris or Bloomingdales in NYC. Quite pricey however, try the salt beef in the restaurant on the ground level as you come in from Portman Place.
Recommended when strolling down the oh-so-crowded Oxford Street.

Not to say that its the most affordable place in London, but its definitely one of those places that a trip to Oxford St would not be complete without a browse through. If you are looking for something a little special or out of the ordinary, this is the place to look. Quality is top class and any designer label which is worth considering has pride of place in the store. The food market is also fantastic. Make sure you take your credit card with you!
