5 reviews of Goose and Duck in English
Nice meeting point for expats. The food is good American Stryle food and the prices are reasonable. Many flat screens and you can watch sports events the whole evening.
This bar has moved to Chaoyang Park Qiao west gate Guanhu Guoji Dasha #1
If you enjoy watching sporting events from around the world, this is the place. It has many flatscreen televisions.
The food is reasobale priced for what you get. The hamburgers are tasty and cooked well. They brew their own beer and it’s not half bad. Come during the happy hour and they are buy one get one! The staff is wonderfull and attentive.
The location is quite off putting. But it’s worth the walk on a nice day and the taxi fare from sunlitun is reasonable.
I’ve been there a few times and don’t have any complaints yet. I’m not much of a snob when it comes to where I eat/drink and I know there are other great places in Beijing but I’ve always had a very pleasent experience at the goose and duck.
So, if you wanna watch some live baseball, american college/pro football, football, snooker, tennis, etc etc. This is the place to kick back and enjoy the show.
Rubbish international bar near the West gate of ChaoYang park on the East side of Beijing (and yet not the most rubbish international bar along that strip, it has to be said). Anyone who’s explored Beijing will surely have only heard bad things about this place and certainly wouldn’t spend a night here while they’re in the city.
Western food choices are abundant in Beijing but invariably of low standard and poor value for money (if you’re going to go for plain boiled potato and dry chewy slabs of unseasoned meat over the myriad local food options then it’s only fair that you get financially penalised anyway). Similarly overpriced imitations of Chinese food are also available.
The bar is split into sections. All of them are rubbish. They brew their own beer and have a few international lagers, all at totally unreasonable prices. They have live music every night.
It’s open 24 hours, which I’m sure some of the nearby residents must complain about!
Lastly, don’t let the name of the bar or the low beam ceiling fool you into thinking this is some sort of English pub. It is very much an expats’ American-style sports bar, lacking any character and serving only people who are willing to pay extra simply for not having to mix with local Chinese people (excluding prostitutes of course).
Great international bar in the east of the centre of Beijing. We had heard good things about this place so had a night here while in the city.
The owner John and the manager Jesse are great guys. They bought us a few drinks and gave us some free souvenirs!
We only had snacks while here but they were so nice! The menu is pretty big too and lots of western choice which can be hard to find in Beijing. However, Chinese food is also available.
The bar is split into sections, a sports bar, a family bar with games and a corporate area upstairs. They brew their own beer and have many international lagers and beers at reasonable prices. They also have live music every night. The guy there at the same time as us was fantastic!
It’s open 24 hours too which you can’t complain about!!
