Hi Troy, Your shirt was made using Ringhart cloth, a London company and to which your shirt was sent upon you notifying us of the problem. As this is a cloth issue rather than a tailoring one we can but take their input and advice. Their report to us was that the shirt contained the tell tell signs of either extensive heat during washing or tumble drying. Certainly we have never had a similar shrinking issue and Ringhart themselves put every bolt of cloth through 2 shrinkage tests to ensure that if treated correctly the shirts will stand up to the rigours of everyday washing. Their tolerance for shrinkage is under 1%. The offer to speak to the fabric maker was an honest one offered by the fabric maker themselves to discuss the shirt and cloth.
However we can only act upon the report given by the cloth maker is neither a fault of the cloth or tailoring has been found. However apologies and the offer for a discount from a further shirt still stands.
Regards James

These guys hit the mark with quality products, and great customer service. I have purchased many garments from Cad & the Dandy and so far they have all been spot on. I have enjoyed solid customer service and can count on James Sleater to offer sound design advice or offer up a new fabric option when needed. If you are in the market for a new suit and want a quality garment at a very reasonable price I would highly recommend Cad & the Dandy!!

Just a short message to thank you and your staff for the very friendly and efficient service I received on Friday, during my first visit to Cad & The Dandy during which I was measured for, and advised on the features of, a navy suit.
I must say how very comfortable I felt at your office, and now look forward to my fitting.

I recently had a shirt made by the Cad & The Dandy, costing £75. It took 3 months to make (as it needed to be sent off to Asia to be made), despite being told it would be ready in one month (they did offer me a 50% discount on my next purchase as compensation for the tripling of the waiting time).
Once it turned up, it wasn't actually a bad shirt. However, within weeks it had shrunk so small that the cuffs were at my elbows - I had only washed it a few times at no more than 40 degrees. When I took it back they insisted that I had boiled it and dissolved all responsibility by suggesting that I contact the company that provided them with the material, which in my opinion is totally unacceptable, as I purchased the shirt and service from them.
The staff were generally very nice, but certain aspects of the service they provide needs some improvement. I wont risk spending any more money there...

Owner's commentsleats, 17 September 2010:
I have recently purchased two bespoke suits from different City tailors, my first ever, and I would recommend Cad & The Dandy very highly. They are polite, professional and pleasant to visit.
The shop in the City is small, but not stuffy. The choice of cloths bewildering and the whole process was a joy.
I paid £400 for a two piece suit and I could not be happier. I will certainly be returning.

I've just got a new suit from these guys. One of the top-end in terms of tailoring and materials, and I'm absolutely in love with it. Just walking into the office I had people asking where I'd got it from, which speaks for itself.
The guys are very friendly - nothing like the stuffy experience you expect to get from a typical tailor. For people like me who've never had a suit made for them before, it removed the nervousness immediately and I wasn't made to feel like a moron!
I have no idea how their suits would compare to a full blown Savile Row outfit, but I can only say that they knock the socks off anything you buy off the peg at a similar price.

Having suffered from koumpounophobia (a terrible fear of buttons) all my life, I contacted 20+ bespoke tailors in an attempt to have a shirt made that both looks like a regular shirt and doesn't trigger my phobia. Cad & the Dandy were the only company to rise to the challenge and have designed and produced a perfectly fitted, wearable shirt for me. For years I have avoided shirts like the plague, but now I have an answer to my prayers. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Cad & the Dandy, even if you don't have such extreme requirements in clothing as I do. Time to go and choose the fabric for my next shirt :o)

Just got a suit from these guys after a colleague had been going on for ages about how good they are. Amazing how bad my old M&S suits look in comparison now - and I thought they looked pretty good before. Seeing them again after bonus day as I can’t just wear the one suit!

That’s great news! I’ll have to pass this on to one of my friends who’s looking to have a suit made.
