I'm sure if you lived overseas in the USA where you don't have the option of tracked delivery, you would have a very different experience and definitely wouldn't be astonished by the negative reviews.

A bit of an old-style London rip-off. Only worth buying from if they have something you really want but cannot get elsewhere, so do your online research first. Dr Martens are 35-45% overpriced and can be bought at better prices elsewhere, both off and online. Try the official Dr Martens web site first. Brit Boot have possibly the best selection of Solovair footwear.They quoted £145 for Solovair dealer (Chelsea) boots when the RRP is £95 and they can be found for even less than that. Being the first store to sell DM's does not justify their making prices up when you see something you like and ask how much it costs. Like I said, if they have something you want but cannot find elsewhere you're going to have to bite the bullet and shell out some dosh, but try a good haggle first. Can't comment on their online sales operation but there are both positive and negative reviews around.

I live near so I bought my new boots directly from their shop. The price was OK and the quality (until now) is perfect. I hope they will remain in same condition the whole winter.

I just received my pair of George Cox Chukka Boots, and they are well-fitting, high quality and extremely comfortable from day one, not to mention great looking.

I bought my first pair of DM's in 1982, it followed all kinds of types( 8 eyes, 10 eyes, Highlanders, Black Watch, Loafers...) and brands (AirWair, Solovair, Hawkins, Loakes). I bought in shops in London, Germany, even in Singapore (never mind), I ordered via net and after all, the Highlanders from the British Boot Co. arrived just hours ago. The quality of the Solovairs and the exquisite service are outstanding. I've never found anything comparable to the britbootco! Thanx from a satisfied customer.

Came especially to this shop when in London around Easter, 'cause the shoes I like are hard to get in the Netherlands, where I live. Great shoes, great service in thie hole-in-the-wall shop with an amazing collection. Recommended.

I came on here to leave a comment on the great service from British Boot Company, and I'm astonished at some of the negative reviews .. we've ordered several times online with absolutely NO problems .. 2 pairs of George Cox shoes, two pairs of Grinders and a pair of Solovaire boots.
Every order has been despatched almost instantly, and received within two days, with accurately timed, tracked delivery from the courier service they use.
Just wish more people would take the time to leave Good feedback.

Well, I have ordered online one pair of Grinders Bulldog Boots from them and, as many other customers already done, I can affirm Mr. Simon is a very professional and gentle guy.
I have received my Boots at my postal address in Italy within a week from my order date and everything were right.
At the end of the story, I have immediately provided to bookmark the British Boot Shop site on my web-browser.

I can just tell you that he has been very professional and that, to repair to a miscarriage happened with my last order ( not for his fault ), he has provided to ship my boots via Seabourne Express... they have been with me in two days... in Italy.

I live in France, and it's difficult to find nice boots.
I finally ordered some "Grinders" at British Boots, via internet.
Delivery was really fast, and I could experiment a very nice follow-up by e-mail.
E-mail communication with Simon was very efficient and helpful.
And of course, my shoes were exactly the same as seen on the website.
I strongly recommend this shop, and my question now is: wich boots am I going to order next! It's a very torture, cause they have a veeeeery large choice!!

I'm sure it's a great place if you can walk in and purchase your shoes. But ordering online is a nightmare. 3 1/2 months and I had no shoes and was told repeatedly that they still weren't sent for reasons so ridiculous you'd think I was joking if I posted them. After a little help from PayPal making calls I finally got my money back. They have no idea of the repeat business they lost from me simply because they refused to send ONE pair of shoes. If you're overseas and looking to buy from this place, you're taking a huge risk. Avoid them like the plague.

There’s a problem for all UK suppliers that our post office doesn’t track deliveries with bar codes so if you say you haven’t got stuff and the shopkeeper says stuff sent, there is a stand-off. Quite likely BBC have a certificate of posting and can claim compensation from the post office but it is a long and accident-prone process.
Nother thing.
US & UK governments got cowboy economists in a few decades ago to tell them what they wanted to hear. No need to make things. Kill inflation and manufacturing by paying too much for government debt and making your currency too pricey. I don’t know if that history effected your order but – hey – it’s different to buying something bought cheap out of a container from China, expecting most of your money to go on customer service to the people who get it to you from the port, and expecting to earn your living from flogging debt.

Jeremy787, 11 November 2011:My problems had nothing to do with anything you mentioned. My shoes simply sat in their warehouse for 3 months and were never sent even after repeated emails. Each time was some silly excuse about communication or bad weather. How many times do you need reminded about 1 pair of shoes? I know if that happened at my job and I received that many complaints, I wouldn’t trust anyone else and just step up and take care of it myself. That’s what GOOD customer service is.

I just ordered a pair of Doc Martens from The British Boot Company and after I had placed my order and it had already been processed, I had a change of heart and wanted to change my order to a pair of real cool Solovair's they offered on their site. Simon was more than accommodating. He assured me there was no problem. Sure enough I received my boots in the mail so quickly that I was surprised. Great customer service. Great products. They have a customer for life here in Canada. Thanks British Boot Company!

As an american who has bought English made doc martins in the past at local shoe stores here in the united states. I was completely bummed out about the whole made in china ,made in taiwan doc martins flooding the market.So i searched the web and found the British Boot Company.Ordered a pair of Solovair 11 eye steel toe boots "Made In England" online.I recieved them here in the U.S. in about 10 days!! Fast and friendly service from Simon love my new kick ass boots will be doing business with them again very soon. 5 stars

This place is a gem if you're into big meaty lace-up boots. I came across them while trying to find out where I could buy a pair of Grinders without having to buy online (these guys do sell online as well, but I have a "try before you buy" policy with boots). The place is really easy to find, as it's a one-minute walk from Camden Town tube station on Kentish Town Road. No concessions are made to decor trendiness, which is good as there's more room for display. So it looks quite basic, but that's definitely not a minus point. Anyway, it's the only place I know of where you can get Grinders still made in Northampton, and I came out with a beautiful pair of 10-hole burgundy rub-offs. The staff aren't all smiley-smiley, but care about what they're selling, and were very helpful and happy for me to try a couple of pairs before buying. They also have a big range of Doc Martens (more than I saw in the Doc Martens store in Neal Street), Solovair and other brands, and if you're in the market for George Cox creepers, this is the place to go. If you want a pair of New Rock-style goth boots, you need to go somewhere else.

Brilliant service from the British Boot Company. I don’t normally write on these sites but some of the reviews were so bad and my experience was so GOOD I just had to leave a message. I ordered on the 15th contacted Simon by email on the 17th to ask could he get them in the post ASAP. He emailed me to say they went in the post on the 16th on a 3-day delivery to Ireland and they arrived on the Monday. The product was spot on - perfect size. The service was fantastic. 10 out of 10. The price of the shoes is a little expensive but I new that when ordering so cant fault them for that I ordered George Cox Pop-Boy Black Suede GC19. December 2009.

complete rubbish they sold me a pair of docs,they new i was blind they could see my guide dog and white stick.I put hem on in the shop then walked home.It wasnt till I got in doors my wife told me one boot was tarten and the other was a worn out doc martin bright pink.they made a fool out of me,it was only later i found out they supply boots to the BNP and they hate blind people

I bought a pair of hard to find Gripfasts for my boyfriend for his birthday. I had to return the shoes for another size. It took over 4 months for them to send me the shoes back. I kept emailing them and they kept telling me that they were sent and that it just takes a while to get through customs. In reality, they never sent them out. I dealt with SIMON, and he flat out lied to me on SIX different occasions in writing. I will be glad to share these emails with you. Don’t use these guys! You can’t trust them!
