I stumbled unwashed and unshaven into the Brown Cow after 7 days walking from Chamonix to Zermatt across the mountains. Recommended to me by two climbers we met at the Schonbielhutte the night before, we discovered the Brown Cow to be an institution within our little community of climbers. The Zermatter Burger and several large beers were the perfect end to the trip and what the Brown Cow lacks in fine dining, is more than compensated for by large portions, great service and an understanding of the unwashed and their large packs.
