7 reviews of Mings Court in English
Ordered a meal for 2 then a 40 minute wait. Drove the 5 minutes home opened the food to find most was overcooked and dry. Chips were cold. On phoning the manager was told someone would ring me in the morning, still waiting.
Wonder if unhappy customers should start ringing false orders that may make them take notice.

oh dear ,oh dear ,where do we start !!!!
going into Mingins court …sorry Ming court why its new is a mystery as you walk in to what can only be described as the set of Ian Beales cafe on Eastenders and about as Chinese as a day out in Blackpool. nothing more than a front room with a mini bar and a few tacky lanterns. tables jam packed into each other you can barely move . which might explain why it took a lifetime to get drinks …finally when a few of us ordered a larger there was no dialogue as to what larger which for a so called restaurant i’ve never heard of!!. we got carling the cheapest larger poor in quality and barely cold. but that set the mood for the evening as that’s pretty much how it stayed.
For an ALL YOU CAN EAT …dreadful should be renamed ALL YOU CAN GET SERVED as our party like the larger where left waiting ages for food , we ordered alot of the dishes for starters and only 3 dishes turned up all salty as hell may as well have eaten a packet of salt…FOOD WAS STONE COLD. then 10 mins after starters arrived the sources for those starters arrived.thick cold horrid sources. after complaining it didn’t improve ,yet again waiting ages for the mains which again came out cold again were worse than the starters (which is a big task).
no staff after complaining did much about it and the manager looked as clueless as Basil Fawlty with his staff making Manuel the waiter look intelligent . didn’t pay ,left to never return .my advise on this so called restaurant is save your money ,try the local tip ,as the scraps there will be warmer, better presented and the broken plates at the tip might just be cleaner.
worst place i’ve ever had the misfortune to step into.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!
This restaurant is an absolute joke…….8 of us went out for my Mums 60th birthday, it was in walking distance for us all to get to, we all arrived at 7.30pm, a drinks order was taken about 15 mins later……40 Min’s later we all got our drinks, they took our first order from the buffet menu, we said we will have everything but the stuffed crab claws for the starters…..Hmmm, well, we got 2 plates with enough food on it to feed about 3 people,(this is an all you can eat buffet) also the food was cold, this was now the 2nd time we’d complained, firstly the time it took for the drinks to arrive and then this, on complaining to the manager who by the way is some what rude, arrogant, and up himself said “OK I’ll be back” so, expecting then some more food to come out hot, we waited a further 40 minutes and he never returned…..we then went to complain for a 3rd time, the waitress who we can only presume is the managers wife said “any more problems you talk to me and i will sort it” then totally insisted because of all these problems we should have the duck as another course for us all……we ALL said that we didn’t want duck as none of us like duck…….this fell on very deaf ears and was forced upon us, at this point we are so hungry and fed up, that we try to order more food from the buffet main course…….bare in mind here 8 people ordered 3 dishes each plus rice/noodles/chips and again 40 mins later the food came out, but was only enough to feed 3 people if that , Again not all of the dishes arrived and they can only be described as disgustingly salty and totally not edible, we had been given cold plates of which most of them were dirty and by this point we were losing the will to live and now are on the verge of walking out. We complained yet again, and yet again nothing was done about this……WE ALL WALKED OUT WE DIDN’T PAY THE BILL AND WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THE NEW MING COURT EVER AGAIN. The managers wife insisted that we paid the bill and wouldn’t accept that the service had been utterly appalling, she followed us out of the restaurant still trying to get us to pay the bill, i think at this point i should add that another table of people walked out the restaurant about 10 mins before us also complaining, the managers wife tried to tell us they’d decided to go to the pub first……….then why did they leave 3 pints of lager and glasses of wine on the table to go to the pub???.
I have to say that on the rare occasion that we all get together and go out you want to have a good meal, if you like a restaurant that is more like Fawlty Towers then this is the place to go, if not then stick to MAY SUM in Derby.
On walking out of the restaurant there was a child in a checked apron who came out of the kitchen, he couldn’t have been more than 10yrs old if that, could that be the reason this whole evening was an absolute sham, as my headline says and i will stick to that AVOID AVOID AVOID, THIS WILL NOT BE SOMEWHERE I RECOMEND ANYONE TO GO TO!!!!!
I would also like to add that this has only got a 1 star rating because i couldn’t post this review without……..in an ideal world it would have a minus 10 rating and even that wouldn’t be good enough!!!!

It is a bit odd that all the one star reviews have been put on by a reviewer from Derby, who has only reviewed one restaurant. Possibly not genuine??

Shelleybean……one review or 10 reviews it really doesn’t matter, the food was crap the service was disgraceful, I am very genuine and as a rule don’t feel the need to place comments on sites like these, but when I think about the service I had when I was there I felt it my duty, like other people on here have also commented to let people know not to waste there money on such a restaurant, there are far better places to eat and if you want a fantastic Chinese I can recommend FAMILY HOUSE Takeaway in Ripley, much better to have a night in with good food at a reasonable price than get dressed up, go out and be nothing but extremely dissapointed !!!!!
The worst restaurant I have ever had the misfortune to visit, rude ignorant so called manager,40 minute wait for drinks a further 30 mins for starters which were served cold a further 20 mins wait for the" manager " to complain to who said “something wrong I go find out” I don’t know if he ever did because he never returned to tell us!!!
Save your money and go to the Riverside if you want to eat Chinese in Belper

Believe this review to be put on by a rival restaurant in Belper

You couldn’t be more wrong John, you may well be happy there I most certainly am not , my original posting is very accurate and to save extreme embarrassment it is understated. I have no connection with any other restaurant, I am a retired senior manager from the distribution industry.

Great Quality food, and a brilliant service. It's a nice atmosphere to sit in and eat, and the takeaway service is equally as good with a efficient delivery service.
