I agree, same happened to me.. with the dispatcher hanging up he phone. In addition the driver was extremely rude and forceful and the Meadway managers defended him instead of apologizing.

I book Meadway every week just because they are reasonably priced but they are among the rudest people I have encountered. They do not care for customer loyalty but abuse you for that, and you can hear the call center agents yell at each other or fight in the background constantly. I've even had agents slam the phone down on me, maybe this is to be expected since I have not found a single cab company with decent service. Their drivers are ok, I would book with them online but they do not accept credit card bookings online and they do not give you a price quote as well. Very awful customer service

I have it on good authority from my aunt that Meadway is reliable service, and not too expensive. She couldn't recommend the company enough.
So a few weeks later when I called to ask for a quote for the price of a transfer from one point to another within, I spoke to an extremely unhelpful man, who barked questions at me and ignored most of what I said. My highlight:
"Are you paying by cash or card?"
"Card."
"Which card?"
"HSBC," I said.
"Which TYPE of CARD?!"
"Credit card?"
"Credit card!"
(Forgive me for misunderstanding your question! I was just unsure of what you meant. No need to bite my head off.)
At one point in the exchange after (politely) correcting the destination when he confirmed it with me (he mistook "Raynes Park" for "Wimbledon"), he actually went silent for a long period and didn't respond to me while I sat going "Hello? Can you hear me? Hello?". (Best 15 second silent lesson I've been taught my whole life.)
I'm assuming he was having a very bad day, but his tone was so aggressive and he was so insolent that I decided not to use the service before the phone call had even ended. When he asked for the credit card number, I asked him (again, all very politely!) if it was possible to know the amount without giving my payment details and he shouted the amount at me like I was a moron for asking. I felt that was unnecessary considering I'd opened the call by stating explicitly I'd only wanted a quote.
I'd be willing to let it go, but it's too bad that my sister also agreed that she has had a similar experience with them. For all we know, they are on time and reliable and all the good things we were told they were, but the unhappy exchange I had with their operator means I won't recommend this service to anyone again.
If this company wants to preserve it's good reputation, I suggest they find a way to fix/replace their phone operators, but I have no reason to believe I should waste my time calling them again.

Very negative on this company. One instance culminated in one of the guys calling me a 'dick' over the phone. Booked a return journey on Friday evening. The car showed up 35 mins late with no call or apology. On the return leg, I received a rude call saying the driver had been waiting for 5 mins outside. The opertaive on the phone said I was acting like a 'dick' when I complained to him.
Several times I have been told the wait for a car is over an hour and the fleet appears to be very small. No advantage to holding an account with them either.
Don't use these guys .

We booked Meadway for 2 airport transfers on the strength of the reviews here. I'm glad we did. They arrived well in time, were very polite, very efficient. Booking was easy. The cars were smart and the drivers helpful. They were a heck of a lot cheaper than many other options.
I can't fault them. I'm going to continue to use them.

A great cheap alternative to Addison Lee and Black Cabs. I love Meadway. Call them the next time you are coming back from holiday via Heathrow. You will get door to door service for less than the price of a Heathrow Express ticket.

I always find the staff helpful and friendly - have used them for years. Now they have a text on arrival service which is great if you are in a bar and don’t want to have to wait outside.
Never had a bad car, though some of the drivers do like to chat a lot! Some may find that quite nice though, but it’s usually when I am at my most anti-social that I get Mr Chatty :)
Price wise, very reasonable, much cheaper than some of the other smaller firms in the area.
They have been there for years - a bit of a landmark in the local area!
