La Fromagerie at Marylebone is a little heaven for cheese lovers. All the other products and snack are great, but this is their strong point.Delicious and special! the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and its a great place to visit.

Le Fromagerie was always one of our favourite Artisan type places to have a good breakfast and soak up the rustic atmosphere of the shop floor with their great selection of cheeses and top class Deli essentials. For breakfast I normally go for the Boiled Egg and soldiers—-scrumptious! Very disappointed however the last time I went there as it was very very busy and we missed the breakfast slot. That said we queued and opted for the lunch menu instead. Not really fancying the heavy food choices we both opted for one of their tarts. Very very tasty but the portion size was very measley especially at £8 a serving. I would go back from my boiled eggs and soldiers but not for the lunch as I think it’s a bit pricey for what it is. That’s a bit of a shame so maybe brush up on your portion sizes please!

I love coming here and entering the shrine of cheese, almost spiritual. Lots of other tasty goodies.
Glad I do not live too close or I would end up spending all my money here.

This really is a must-see (or should that be 'must-smell'?) for cheese lovers in London. A large shop-front more or less entirely devoted to the art of fromage, you'll be sure to find something you love here, as well as something new to try. The chilled cheese room is a real treat, and it's staffed by helpful people who really know their cheese.
Back in the main part of the shop, you'll find everything you need to accompany your cheese from fresh veg to chutneys, interesting crackers and artisan bread. There's also a dining area where cheese tasting courses are regularly held. This is one of two branches of La Fromagerie, as there is a much more compact outpost in Highbury.
For those not in the immediate vicinity, the website is well worth a look too: not only does it have some very evocative cow-bells to accompany your online shopping - it has a 'virtual cheeseroom', too. Genius.

Stay away from this place if you like a nice friendly place to have your food. The food was good but the manager treated the people at the table next to me appallingly. I don't know what the conflict was about, but what happened to the idea that the customer is always right? Even challenging customers need to be dealt with professionally to avoid killing the atmosphere for every one else. The cafe is very nice but the management was very poor on my visit.

The breakfast menu closed at 12pm. We ordered at dead on 12pm. I wanted two boiled eggs. The rather surly waitress informed us that the breakfast menu was no longer in service. I just wanted two boiled eggs! It was exactly 12pm. I could have understood it if it had been even five minutes later. But no. The waitress even said that they were 'inflexible'. Inflexible? Over two boiled eggs on the stroke of 12 My God! The chef couldn't cope with two boiled eggs?!!! Obviously La Fromagerie feels so secure that they can ignore the wishes of their customers. Even in this financial climate. So, inflexibility and miserable staff. The menu we were handed was out of date. We were going from bad to worse here. Added to that our plate consisted of a few bits (bits!) of cheese etc. The profit margin must be high. Maybe they can afford to be miserable. The pear juice was nice though.

I love Marylebone! Its always busy and has a nice village feeling to it. And discovering La Fromagerie has been great. Breakfast there is amazing and you always bump into such interesting people - the communal tables make it so easy to meet and chat.
The cheeseroom is really special, too. The only downside for me, a foodie, but not "smelly cheese" lover is the smell of cheese!
A very cool place though

The best cafe in London

I rarely get up to Marylebone but when I do I always seem to end up at La Fromagerie. What a charming little place, like a restaurant with a French accent if you know what I mean.
La Fromagerie, as the name promises, is predominantly a cheese shop with an amazing cheese room, which you can also check out online (Online cheese room). I could not believe my eyes – they even have cheese from Austria! (they do deserve credit for this as you cannot say that Austria is exactly famous for its cheese…)
In the middle of all these great food stuff (olive oil to die for, delicious looking bread, chocolates etc..) there is a small attractive cafe/restaurant area with rustic wood tables and chairs. The menu is small but hits the spot and all the ingredients are top class.
We had the vegetarian Antipasti Plate (8.95) with lovely humus and smoked aubergine puree which I have hardly eaten better. It came with sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, olives and tasty goat’s cheese garnished with fresh leaves and herbs.
We also shared the absolutely delicious House Dry Cured Beef Fillet (14.50), carpaccio with pecorino cheese, salad leaves/rocket and truffle oil. Very very nice indeed.

We were not quite sated yet and tried one of their cheeses which we had bought before in their cheese room. When we asked for knife and bread, they gave us the bread for free. How rare is this? We decided on a French goat’s cheese called Banon which came wrapped in wine leaves and was perfectly ripe and melting and delightful. We were not planning on eating the whole thing actually but there was no holding us back…
La Fromagerie offers a good, fair-priced wine list. When we couldn’t decide which wine to take, the waitress let us try different ones until we made up our mind. The service yes – they were lovely and attentive and helpful and the service charge was not included. That’s when you like giving!
So I hope I have convinced you that this is the perfect place for a unpretentious, relaxed and satisfactory meal. On the downside – I might just never try anything else in Marylebone…

The cheese room here is amazing. Most worth a try- Vacherin Mont D'Or when in season, and the black truffle Brie.
If you fancy a light snack whilst shopping in Marylebone, the cafe at the back of La Fromagerie is nice- the cheese tasting plate is always good, and they do a delightful violet prosecco- not sure it quite goes with the cheese, but yummy all the same. Latte's also nice here, but again not complementary to the star of the show, the cheeses...

One of my favorite weekend haunts. And I am not alone in that. Why can't everything in the world be as perfect as this little place? Yes, its a cheese room with a cafe bit. The magic though is that there is so much love for what is being done in this place. And they do it soooo well! Whenever I go I have a cheese plate and I always try something new, I love the blurbs on the menu about where the cheeses have originated. Its all good. I often order two dishes and eat them both. One criticism. They can't really make coffee - so leave that for some where else.

I'd come here just to hang out in the cheese room with the charming staff who are knowledgeable and helpful and very generous with samples. Don't come here without some leeway for spending though - you'll always spend more on cheese than you expect!

Love this place. I particularly like shopaholic's quote "If mice died and went to heaven, this is probably what the place would look like..."
I wish they had a Fromagerie in Clapham, but unfortunately not. This is a cheese paradise and i'd highly recommend it to tourists and locals alike. Don't worry if you're not a cheese lover, they have plenty of other great stuff too.
Tip - Try the Chorizo soup. It's delicious!

Greatest cheese shop ever! All right, maybe I'm exaggerating but just a bit. This shop stores a lot of varieties of mainly French but also English and Italian cheese. The staff is very helpful and they are happy to give you a taste before you buy. The "morbier" I bought there was the best ever and not even that expensive. On top of the cheese, you can also find great charcuterie, fresh fruits, homemade cakes or fresh eggs. Love it!!!

Me too! La Cave A Fromage sounds good, I'll try to go to over the weekend!
The cheese and other food in this place is great and the staff is for the most part very friendly and helpful. The owner, however, is a rude elderly man who can barely even bring himself to scowl at his customers. I used to go quite often but can't stand to be ignored and barked at by this man any more. Sometimes I walk by and see if he's in there; if not I'll go in but otherwise I just keep walking. He should stay in the back and let his far more competent staff deal with the customers. I should note that this review is of the Highbury branch of the shop.

I think that the owner of this shop is a woman, called Patricia something. In fact I am pretty sure?
It's her husband; they're both on the website.
