Great hotel with lots of food choices (never dined there myself) and a great little bar.
Rooms are standard but clean and nice.
Great hotel for London.

I travel to London several times a year and always stay at this hotel. It’s like a second home to me. The location is great: on the Strand, central London, close to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden, with lots of pubs, restaurants and theaters nearby. If you’re in for a stroll, Westminster Palace and Abbey with the Big Ben are 10 minutes away. So are Buckingham Palace and Oxford Street, but there are also lots of buses or London taxi’s. You can ask the friendly doorman to hail you one.
It’s a bit pricey and the rooms have no air-conditioning but since the refurbishment in 2010 the beds are better and street noise coming in has become less, and the bathrooms are very much improved.
The staff are friendly, some recognize me and welcome me back. The concierge service is great, they know about sites to see, how to get there and they can book tickets for you.
There’s a carvery and restaurant, not very special but as I said there are many restaurants within a few minutes.

Basically, a hotel too kip in , food rubbish , alcohol expensive ,room clean with no air condition , although central for everything I suppose you have got to expect the prices because it's London , oh miserable me

I went to the carvery here for a Christmas lunch in Dec 2010 with 2 girlfriends. The Christmas decorations were lovely and the staff were very polite. the food was good although I think I had too much! We usually go somewhere else for Christmas but this was so enjoyable that we think we will make it our new Christmas tradition. I have been here previously and eaten in the Johnstons Brasserie and that was equally as good, as was the Christmas dinner in the evening. The staff have always been very polite and eager to make sure your stay is enjoyable.
It is in an excellent location - 5 minutes walk along the Strand from Charing Cross station and Traflagar Sq. Waterloo is not too far either - probably a good 20 mins walk or you can get a cab or bus and it would take maybe 5- 10 minutes. If you get a bus, there is a bus stop just outside that goes toward the city, or if you coming from waterloo, ask to get off at the Savoy Hotel as it is opp the Strand Palace hotel. Also, if you want to go shopping in Oxord St or Regent St, the bus will take you there from the Savoy Hotel side. You could walk it though via Piccadilly Circus in about 30 mins. Don't bother with the tube as you will spend more time getting and out of the station than anything! The bus is a much better option as you can jump off when you want.

This hotel is pretty central to get to the rest of london, the standard rooms are pretty basic with a bed which isnt to comfterable and your standard tv channels. It does say satellite tv when you book but I wouldn call a couple of extra channels satellite you get more on freeview. It is clean and you get a bath and a shower in the bathroom. The place though is noisy I would only go here is you could sleep through anything
They do have a cavery on but there are pubs nearby that do just as nice food for cheaper The bar is pretty pricey
This place is your standard overpriced basic hotel for central london. Much better places around.
