A large and very popular bar (more like two actually, as there are two adjacent but separate interior spaces run by the same staff) in the corner of Plaça Reial, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, not far from the Rambla.
It's cavernous and traditional in style, with funky touches and mostly young staff. It attracts people of all ages and, due to its location, lots of tourists. There's a wide range of beers available, including lesser-known dark Spanish beers. They do an extensive range of food, including hot dishes and, of course, tapas. Occasional photographic and art exhibitions are held.
One of the attractions is the extensive seating area in the corner of the square, if you want to people-watch (but as with anywhere in the old quarter, watch your bags too...).
