Great bar but you do need a little patience. The middle doors open straight on to the bar. The end doors open in to the slightly more roomy corners. You will get served eventually. If you ask for Rubia you will finally receive it after it has been poured, settled, poured again and the froth levelled off the top. You have to either have seats at one of the limited tables or be at the bar to be served tapas dishes. Beer glass breakages are frequent due to the use of tall fluted glasses. Be careful where you put yours. Visit and enjoy the experience.

For those looking for authentic tapas, venture away from the over-priced trappings of the Ramblas to El Vaso de Oro.
It's small, noisy and packed with locals, who come for the home-brewed German style beer but also a great selction of tapas at very reasonable prices.
There is a great atmosphere and the long, thin bar means everyone is sat facing the kitchen, the place positively hums on a evening and the staff are a friendly, cheery bunch.
We happily wolfed down a selection from sherry-braised chorizo, savoury padron peppers, grilled prawns and crisp, golden patatas bravas.
Mediocre tapas are everywhere in Barcelona, but this place is a little gem worth seeking out!

Vaso de Oro (“The Golden Glass” or “Glass of Gold”, more accurately) is a venerable, narrow, immensely popular bar in the Barceloneta district which is always full, and for a simple reason: it serves first-rate tapas, good chilled beer, and is invariably animated and enjoyable. You’ll get the reliable classics such as pimientos de Padrón, patatas bravas and croquetas, and more adventurous dishes as well, with fresh seafood and molluscs. Generally a very good option if you’re near the port and fancy a quick bite.

this is a tapas bar recommended in the five star grand luxe hotels…... that should just say everything, right?.... it does,...food is amazing good, ambience is fine, and you will find a mix of local people, passers by, and tourists,....
non smokers place (it is narrow)
It is worth the price…........

This is an authentic locals bar in Barceloneta, close to the Metro station. The bar is long and incredibly narrow - so be prepared to squeeze past other customers to get a seat. (Everyone else does).
As well as the relative scarcity of tourists (perhaps not now it's on Qype...), they do authentic, filling Catalan tapas and serve their own beer: that's right, this is a brew-pub, (or should that be 'brew-bar'?) and they do a lovely 7% amber coloured lager, Vaso de Oro Rubia (just ask for 'rubia').
The staff were friendly and efficient, as you'd expect, and the prices are a joy compared with some of the inflated tourist haunts around. Recommended.
