This was a very pleasant venue an with very happy warm atmosphere. The service was warm and kind. The food selection was nice and varied and a good selection of wine and beer. The outside seating is nice to compliment to the food.

Do not go here to eat-go to feed the ducks sit by the river if you can get in the overcrowded car park

Possibly the worst food I have ever eaten-Coq au vin that had the same sauce as the steak and guinness pie sole covered in a sauce that defys description bad bad bad

Review of The Mill from 20 March 2012

The Mill used to be my pub of choice when I first moved into the area. Then Fullers took over and it all went downhill rapidly. It could and should be a top notch choice for either a nice evening drink or a meal but the Fullers management have turned this into a local laughing stock. The pub used to be owned by a local resident who understood the importance of customer service which reflected in the staff’s helpful and courteous approach, the food was of a high standard and was always a pleasure to go there.

Nowadays you will be lucky to even be acknowledged when you first walk in. If you want to eat you will be asked if you have booked in a tone that implies they are doing you a favour even letting you walk through the door. The menu contains a few promising dishes but when they eventually arrive they are typically over or under cooked, tasteless or microwaved slops. My last visit with friends was a complete farce with starters and main courses arriving at the same time.

Like another pint or Glass of wine midway through your meal? Well you will now be instructed to go and queue up at the Bar as its Fullers “policy” apparently. If its at all busy the bar will have 2 or 3 rows of annoyed, thirsty customers doing the same and looking forward to returning to their now stone cold food when they have eventually got served.

Aside from the bad attitudes of the majority of the staff, the most shocking thing is the jaw dropping complacency of the Management. On my last visit I eventually managed to speak with the Manager who dealt with my politely presented issues with complete disinterest. The Fullers area manager at least offered to look into things and call me within 2 weeks, of course that never happened. This is a classic example of a cynical Brewery relying on a good location to maximise profits from cheap ingredients, rip off prices, minimal staffing and absolutely no investment in training. Do yourself a favour and avoid the Mill at all costs and hopefully Fullers will get the message.

beautiful pub with lots of different areas, great place to relax and have a decent pint (Fullers) and a meal while you watch the ducks. family friendly with a nice beer garden. on the downside, the food can sometimes be of a variable and middling quality and has gone downhill in 2011…i recently had a pudding which had clearly been microwaved and was served with birds instant custard, but maybe the standard will pick up again.

Review of The Mill from 22 December 2008

Beautiful old converted mill, a pub/restaurant in the Fullers chain. It’s right by a river with a lovely big garden, ideal for sitting outside in summer or nicer weather. Popular with families.

Great food and a decent range of beers. They also have a lovely carvery upstairs most Sundays.

One of our favourite restaurants in the area.
