A good fun day out for adults, never mind the kids. Stroke the stingray, stare at the scary sharks swimming in the middle of the aquarium (actually I think you can pay to swim with the shark on those ‘experience’ websites!) and marvel at just how many colours there are in the world. It is quite expensive though so pick up a 2for1 booklet at Waterloo station nearby and you will, providing you have any kind of train ticket - inc. a day travel card, get 2 tickets for the price of 1!

Definite destination for the kids. The site is amazing because its all tucked away underground, nestling underneath the former GLC HQ. Gets very busy in the tourist season, but open all year. They also have face painters, painting classes & instructional groups should your children get bored with looking at the wonderful array of fishes, sharks & all manner of aquatic wildlife

2 Million litres of water right by the river opposite the Palace of Westminster. I am not a huge fan of the so called London's classic attractions but I do like the aquarium. Mainly because it's full of wonderful creatures that you can't watch anywhere else in London. No I am not talking about tourists, I mean fish. Including sharks and piranhas and all that. Great fun for kids as you can imagine.
