The outside of this pub is really inviting and the menu looked promising (we were told it was a new menu that day) I order the chicken chimichanga with rice and a salad my partner chose the burger. We waited an eternity for the food to arrive and when it did I noticed that the portions were not only lamentably small but were also over cooked. The burger was almost solid, the chips (tiny portion) were also over cooked on the outside but under cooked in the middle, suggesting that the oil was too hot. This was bourne out by my chimichanga was so over cooked that it was like a brick! I cut into it and i realised the chicken inside was welded into the tortilla like a fossil but much harder and less inspiring. The staff were very pleasant though-refunded the cost of the meal and apologised so they keep 2 stars instead of 1.

Love this building, we came years ago when there were some refreshment rooms and it was a bit dicey.
the high wooden ceiling and airy conservatory is incredible. We sat and watched the trains as we were actiually on the platform, very strange experience. nice chouce of lagers and the food was pretty reasonable too, thanks a lot guys we will come and see you again in a few more years

My wife and I dropped in for lunch this week and I have to say it was a big mistake. Loud music played on the sound system making it difficult to speak coupled with a very poor stale Sausage baguette filled with onion chutney not onion, no salad with the sausage cut in half and some rather overcooked chips. They also dropped a knife on the floor then wiped it with a napkin and gave it to someone seated who had also ordered. One to give it a miss too I think. 2 out of 10 for the offering, 3 for the surroundings.

Go here with my Girlfriend quite a bit. Very quirky pub with friendly staff.
Good place to watch the mid week football.
Always has a good mix of people, from red faced local's to the commuter who has just jumped off at kew gardens station.
Open late and really good food with a nice patio area to smoke.
Worth a visit

Formerly called The Flower & Firkin (due to its proximity to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew) the pub had a name change in 2007 and a full refit. It’s now a large and airy pub that’s virtually on Kew Gardens Station.
You can sit in the conservatory and watch trains go by and if you time things correctly (I’ve done this) you can finish off your pint and leg it outside, & nip through the station to catch an approaching train.
There’s a massive screen showing sports whenever there’s a really big game on, but non sports lovers (like me) shouldn’t let that put you off, as it’s not a sporting pub.
As well as a good selection of beers & some nice Belgian ones, there’s a large traditional pub menu of fairly hearty pub grub. Mainly the sorts of things you’d expect - pies, fish n chips and gammon & eggs, but also nachos, pasta, jacket potatoes and good desserts.
The landlord is really friendly & has made the pub a much warmer place than it used to be as the Flower & Firkin. If you’re lucky, and someone else hasn’t beat you to it, grab a seat by the fire in the winter on one of the cosy sofas and settle in for the day.
